Cleaver has been on the receiving end of some pretty brutal comments this week.

The Missouri pastor was asked to deliver a prayer to open the 117th Congress on Sunday, but opted to make some adjustments to the address.

His changes didn't go down well, however...

After he ended his address with both "Amen" and "Awomen," many began to point out exactly why he made a huge mistake.

Now, of course, we're now living in the era of gender fluidity.

Long gone are the days where there were simply 2 genders - Now, people can identify with up to one-hundred different genders or no gender at all.

More and more people are identifying as gender-neutral...

Or "non-binary," in other terms.

Just to break it down for you...

People use the term “non-binary" to describe genders that don’t fall into 1 of the 2 binaries of male or female.

It can be a confusing concept to get your head around...

While some non-binary individuals identify as either having a gender which is in-between the 2 binaries "man" and "woman," others can fluctuate, or have no gender, either permanently or some of the time.

But how far is too far?

While people are completely free to identify how they wish, there are some who take the whole gender argument a little further than others.

Take gender slamming fictional characters, for example.

Yep, some people choose to take offense over the gender assumption of made-up characters. You know, the ones that are not real, or do not have a valid, real-life opinion on gender?

But it seems this week, the gender argument has been unearthed once again.

As you can see, many pointed out that "Amen" is Latin for "so be it"...

And therefore, has no reference to gender at all.

All of the backlashes doesn't seem to have deterred Cleaver, though.

The pastor said of his prayer: "I was honored to deliver the opening prayer for the 117th Congress."

He continued...

"May God bless each and every Representative with the courage and wisdom to defend our democracy and the liberties we all hold so dearly."

Here's exactly how the end of his prayer went down:

He said: "We ask it in the name of the monotheistic God, Brahma, and 'god' known by many names by many different faiths. "Amen and awoman."

What do you think? Has he gone too far?
