Entire Buffalo PD Emergency Response Unit Resign After Cops Suspended | 22 Words

Amid the nationwide protests, we're seeing police officers using various methods to restrain protesters.

In a horrific video that surfaced recently, a police officer could be seen shoving an elderly man to the ground.

The man hits his head and it starts bleeding. Now, the entire police unit has resigned from the tactical unit...

Keep scrolling to find out why.

It all started on May 25th...

Passers-by in Minneapolis witnessed and filmed 2 police officers "arresting" George Floyd for an alleged forgery incident.

Police found George matching a suspect's description in his car.

Even though he didn't resist arrest, one of the officers got him on the ground and pinned him there by pressing their knee into his neck.

This position was clearly very painful for him...

"Please, please, I can't breathe," George can be heard begging in harrowing footage as the officers remain standing. "My stomach hurts. My neck hurts. Everything hurts," he moans as passers-by begin to gather and repeatedly tell the officer to stop leaning on him.

Multiple witnesses are arguing with the officers when he starts to lose consciousness...

"He's not f****** moving!" one witness shouts as another says, "Get the f*** off him, he isn't moving!" One of the officers responds with, "This is why you don't do drugs, kids."

After around 4 minutes of the officer kneeling on him, George is completely unresponsive.

An ambulance arrives, the paramedics check his pulse and move his body onto a stretcher - he was later pronounced dead in the hospital.

George was only forty-six years old...

And he did not deserve to die.

The police officers involved have shown absolutely no emotion, regret, or urgency...

And a huge amount of backlash has hit the headlines.

Four officers involved have been fired.

Derek Chauvin, the officer pressing his knee into George's neck, was arrested and charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter. His charge was later upgraded to second-degree murder.

The haunting footage of George's death began circulating online...

And it has left millions of people both heartbroken and disgusted.

People all around the world have been left furious over George's unjustified death.

But many are feeling completely hopeless due to the fact that this blatant racism is happening more and more in our country.

When will this violence stop?

And when will police officers who have caused his death be properly convicted for their crimes?

Protests have been held in George's memory all around the country...

But Minneapolis has been restless for an entire week now.

The protests started last week and continue to spread across the nation...

Thousands upon thousands of protesters took to the streets on Wednesday to express their hurt and their anger at the injustice.

Things very quickly turned violent.

As thousands of people took to the streets, the police force became involved when shops started getting broken into and police cars were being attacked.

Police officers in riot gear pelted the crowds with tear gas and rubber bullets...

And when protestors began fighting back, things turned very ugly and the mass brawl continued into the night.

But things were far from over...

A Minneapolis Police Station was set on fire to mark the third evening of rioting. Thankfully, the station had been evacuated beforehand so nobody was seriously hurt.

The scenes have been truly apocalyptical.

And even though the protest was to demand justice for George, so many people were left fearful for their own lives in the chaotic streets of Minneapolis.

The Mayor of Minneapolis Jacob Frey has been repeatedly addressing the incident, referring to events in the videos as "wrong at every level."

"Being black in America should not be a death sentence. For 5 minutes we watched as a white officer pressed his knee to the neck of a black man. For 5 minutes," he said. "When you hear someone calling for help, you are supposed to help. This officer failed in the most basic human sense. What happened on Chicago and 38th, this last night, is simply awful."

And on the same day, he addressed the person responsible for George's death.

And this time, he called for the outright arrest of Derek Chauvin - the officer who is responsible for the death of George Floyd.

The Mayor pointed out that if any normal person had committed this horrific act, they would be in jail right now.

"Why is the man who killed George Floyd not in jail?" Frey asked during the press conference. "If you had done it or I had done it, we would be behind bars right now, and I cannot come up with a good answer to that question."

Justice should have been served.

Derek Chauvin needs to face up to his actions regardless of his position in the police force. He was responsible and there's no way that anybody can dodge that fact.

But it seems that justice is finally being served.

Derek Chauvin was arrested last week...

And now he's been charged with murder in the second degree.

Which is better than letting a dangerous man roam free on our streets. It is currently unclear what the next stages are but we know one thing for sure...

Police tactics are nothing short of dangerous.

And in another video taken from the protest in Buffalo, we witnessed the danger again.

As protestors filled Niagara Square on Thursday officers began to move in on the crowd.

Dressed in heavy gear, they were obviously prepared.

And as they started to move an elderly man approached some of them.

The elderly man started a non-physical confrontation with the cops.

But an officer from the group was having none of it and can be heard shouting 'Move!' at the man.

He then proceeded to push the man backward out of his way, causing the elderly man to stumble and fall backwards... hitting his head.

The officers can be heard calling for a medic as the man lays motionless on the ground where blood can be seen.

According to TMZ, The Mayor of Buffalo has said that the man is in hospital, in a stable but serious condition.

The Mayor also added that he is "deeply disturbed" by the video.

It has also been announced by The Buffalo Police Commissioner that both officers have been suspended.

Here's the horrific video:

The officers were both suspended without pay.

But now there's been a huge turn of events.

The entire police unit involved in the controversial 'shoving' have resigned from the tactical unit following the suspension of the two police officers involved.

57 members resigned.

All 57 members of the Buffalo Police Department's Emergency Response Team resigned from the tactical unit, and according to Forbes they did it for a very controversial reason.

Forbes claim they left as a show of support.

But not in support of the elderly man, but in support of the two officers who have been suspended without pay from the force.

They claim the officers were just doing their job.

And at the time of writing, the top message on the Buffalo's police union webpage read:
These guys did nothing but do what they were ordered to do. This is disgusting !!!

But most people feel otherwise.

And the Internet has been flooded with comments of disgust and upset after the shocking video went quickly viral...
