A video of a father reuniting with his son who was abducted twenty-four years ago was caught on camera and the moment has touched the hearts of people all over the world.
Guo Xinzhen was reunited with his Chinese parents after he was snatched by traffickers over 2 decades ago.
His fifty-one-year-old father, Guo Gangtang, traveled over 300,000 miles around China trying to find him. The heartbroken father had been to more than twenty provinces around the country on a motorbike in the hopes that he'd be able to find his little boy. Throughout his journey, he ran into obstacles including robbers and even hurt himself on numerous occasions - but that did not stop him from losing hope.
His story was so moving that it become the plotline for the movie Lost and Love (2015) which tells the story of a man called Lei (played by Andy Lau) whose young son goes missing, so he begins a fourteen-year quest to find him. On the road, he also meets a repairman that had suffered the same fate as his son.

It was reported that Xinzhen's alleged abductors were planning on selling him for money, which is a common occurrence in certain countries. According to a 2020 Trafficking in Persons Report, the Chinese government "does not fully meet the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking and is not making significant efforts to do so." Another report by the Human Rights Watch claimed that due to the one-child policy and the preference for boys, a gender imbalance has seen a spike in child brides being abducted and sold for profit in and around the country.
Guo Xinzhen is one of the lucky ones. Authorities managed to finally track him down using DNA testing and the family reunited over the weekend in what has been a tear-jerking scene. Over the years of his search, Guo Gangtang has helped other families reunite with their lost children. He spent all of his life savings and even begged for money to be able to see his own son again but this Sunday it was confirmed that the sacrifice was well and truly worth it.
