Now, Florence Pugh is one of Britain’s top actresses.

She shot to fame just 2 years after making her acting debut in the 2014 drama The Falling, proving just how talented she really is.

In 2016 she bewitched viewers as the leading lady in the independent drama Lady Macbeth

So much so, that she won a British Independent Film Award for her portrayal of the young bride.

And her accolades have only grown since then.

In 2018, she went on to star in King Lear and Outlaw King.

And in the same year, she gained a lot of acclaim for playing the leading role in The Little Drummer Girl.

Pugh was even nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star Award not long after.

However, Pugh really made it big in 2019, playing the professional wrestler Paige in Fighting with My Family.

And who can forget her incredible performance in the hit horror Midsommar?

Then there’s her role as Amy March in Little Women, the range she possesses is unmatched!

Understandably she received nominations for an Academy Award and a BAFTA Award for both Midsommar and Little Women.

How she didn’t win, we don’t know.

As her popularity grew, we saw her take on the role of Yelena Belova in MCU’s Black Widow

Followed by the Disney+ miniseries Hawkeye.

Is there anything she can’t do?

It’s clear she’s incredibly talented and very much deserving of all the positive accolades.

However, things haven’t always been easy for the star, as she had to deal with her fair share of negative press since she made it in Hollywood.

The actress has been in the headlines a lot recently…

I think we can all remember the backlash she got from wearing that dress.

Recently, Pugh wore a revealing dress which struck up many comments from onlookers online.

The sheer pink tulle Valentino gown Pugh wore sparked a good bit of debate online and it didn’t take long for her to respond to her critics.

Pugh said she was taken back by how “vulgar” some people were.

Taking to Instagram, she wrote: “Listen, I knew when I wore that incredible Valentino dress that there was no way there wouldn’t be a commentary on it. Whether it be negative or positive, we all knew what we were doing. I was excited to wear it, not a wink of me was nervous. I wasn’t before, during, or even now after.”

“What’s been interesting to watch and witness is just how easy it is for men to totally destroy a woman’s body, publicly, proudly, for everyone to see. You even do it with your job titles and work emails in your bio..?”

She concluded her post, which can be in read full here, writing: “I’m very grateful that I grew up in a household with very strong, powerful, curvy women. We were raised to find power in the creases of our body. To be loud about being comfortable. It has always been my mission in this industry to say ‘f*** it and f*** that’ whenever anyone expects my body to morph into an opinion of what’s hot and attractive. I wore that dress because I know. If being loudly abusive towards women publicly in 2022 is so easy for you, then the answer is that it is you who doesn’t know. Grow up. Respect people. Respect bodies. Respect all women. Respect humans. Life will get a whole lot easier, I promise.”

Preach.

As many have pointed out in the comments, Pugh has simply yet again proved that she is an absolute icon!

Then, not long after, came the devastating news that she split with her long-time boyfriend Zach Braff…

The pair began dating in 2019 but kept their relationship relatively private over the last few years.

And that’s because her relationship with Braff hasn’t been an easy one.

When the pair first announced they were together, they were hit with an onslaught of negative comments.

Back in April last year, she posted a video responding to the hate she receives for her relationship with Braff…

“I’m twenty-four years old. I do not need you to tell me who I should and should not love. It is not your place and really it has nothing to do with you.”

In an interview with Elle, she later added to her point of view…

“People have no right to educate me on my private life, I know that part of being in the spotlight is that people might invade your privacy and have opinions on it, but it’s bizarre that normal folk are allowed to display such hate and opinions on a part of my life that I’m not putting out there.”

Sadly, they recently called it quits.

Pugh told Harper’s Bazaar on August 16: “We’ve been trying to do this separation without the world knowing because it’s been a relationship that everybody has an opinion on.”

  via Getty Images

She continued: “We just felt something like this would really do us the benefit of not having millions of people telling us how happy they are that we’re not together.

“So we’ve done that. I automatically get a lumpy throat when I talk about it,” she added.

After sharing the news, Pugh reiterated what she has said countless times during her relationship with Braff.

“Whenever I feel like that line has been crossed in my life, whether it’s paparazzi taking private moments, or moments that aren’t even real, or gossip channels that encourage members of the public to share private moments of famous people walking down the street, I think it’s incredibly wrong,” she said.

“I don’t think that people, just because they have this job, that every aspect of their life should be watched and written about. We haven’t signed up for a reality TV show.”

The actress recently appeared on Running Wild with Bear Grylls, where the pair made their way through Costa Rica.

While on the treacherous 2-day trip, Pugh was seen taking on some pretty terrifying quests, such as jumping out of a helicopter and wading through snake-infested rivers.

During the adventure, Pugh revealed that she has suffered from a rare medical condition since birth…

And that it affected her so badly in her early years, that her parents were forced to relocate to Spain from England.

She said: “We were in Spain because I have a breathing issue, and when I was younger they kind of just advised that a hotter climate would be better.”

  via Getty Images

Explaining the reason why she shared: “I have asthma and I have this thing called tracheomalacia as well.”

“And so from a young age, I’ve just had a different breathing system.”

  via Getty Images

Although she explained that it’s gotten easier now she’s older: “Now as an adult, unless I get ill, it doesn’t really affect me as intensely as it did when I was younger.”

Tracheomalacia is a severe condition that can cause the trachea to collapse, and as a result, restrict airflow…

Making it almost impossible to breathe.

Thankfully, it seems Pugh no longer suffers as much as she did from the condition.

Pugh has now confessed some juicy inside details from the beginning of her Hollywood career.

The twenty-six-year-old reportedly received no training when she made her big screen debut in 2014’s The Falling at just seventeen.

She was then cast as a rising pop star in Studio City, until a year later, when she was told by industry insiders that she wasn’t right for the part.

The Oscar-nominated actress faced masses of criticism about the way she looked.

Speaking to The Telegraph Pugh revealed industry insiders tried to change her…

  via Getty Images

In terms of her looks.

“All the things that they were trying to change about me – whether it was my weight, my look, the shape of my face, the shape of my eyebrows – that was so not what I wanted to do, or the industry I wanted to work in,” she said.

“I’d thought the film business would be like [my experience of making] The Falling, but actually, this was what the top of the game looked like, and I felt I’d made a massive mistake,” Pugh added.
