Frankie Muniz has finally set the record straight after years of rumors…
Now, we all know Frankie Muniz for one thing and one thing only…
And that’s Malcolm in the Middle.
The New Jersey-born actor was cast as the title character in 2000…
And as we all know, Malcolm in the Middle went on to be outrageously successful.
With a reported twenty-three million people tuning in to watch the pilot episode alone.
Now that’s impressive!
Starring alongside Muniz was Bryan Cranston, who is now considered as one of Hollywood’s most acclaimed actors…
The show chronicled the chaotic lives of a bizarrely dysfunctional family consisting of mom and dad, Hal and Louis, and their boys — Francis, Reese, Malcolm, Dewey, and baby Jamie.
The show came to an end in 2006 after 7 seasons and 151 episodes…
But still, to this very day, Malcolm in the Middle remains to be one of the most popular American sitcoms ever.
So what did this mean for Muniz, who was now an adult?
The actor went on to make brief guest appearances on the shows Lizzie McGuire, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, and MADtv.
Although his first starring role was as Willie Morris in the 2000 family drama film My Dog Skip.
Which was released at approximately the same time as the pilot for Malcolm in the Middle.
During his time on Malcolm in the Middle, he had a number of roles in big production movies.
Muniz contributed a character voice to the animal cast of the film Dr. Dolittle 2.
He also had a hit with the 2002 release Big Fat Liar.
Which teamed him with teen actress Amanda Bynes as a pair of students seeking revenge on a sleazy movie producer.
The actor then played the title role in the film Agent Cody Banks as well as its sequel, Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London.
But in 2006, after appearing in the horror movie Stay Alive, Muniz expressed his desire to take a step down from acting and leave traditional Hollywood film roles.
“Growing up has never scared me until last year. I started thinking about getting older, being an adult, and it scared me.
“Hopefully, things will work out in my career. If they don’t, then it was never meant to be,” he said.
Muniz seemed to immediately swap his career as an actor for a career as an open-wheel car racer…
And he was also the drummer for the band Kingsfoil between 2012-2014.
Although Muniz hasn’t pursued anything serious in the world of acting since he stepped down in 2008…
There are things that people are still curious about…
You may remember that rumors surrounding Muniz and memory loss began circulating back in 2017 when he competed on Dancing with the Stars.
Muniz spoke about his experience with memory loss in regards to remembering the filming of Malcolm in the Middle, Comicbook.com reports.
Muniz cleared up the rumors during an appearance on Steve-O’s Wild Ride! podcast.
Muniz explained that this is the “first time” he has been able to clarify the rumor.
“If you search my name, all it talks about is how like I have no memory or I’m dying of strokes and all this kind of stuff.
“You search my name (and) it’s basically, ‘Frankie is dying,” he said, ComicBook.com reports.
Muniz explained that he has spent years questioning “why do I have a bad memory?” but has only come to one conclusion.
“The only logical thing I can say is, yeah, I’ve had nine concussions,” he said.
“I don’t want to blame the concussions or blame anything else.
“I just think it’s the fact that I did so f***ing much in that time frame that of course, I can’t remember all of it,” Muniz continued.
“To be honest, like, I love Dancing With the Stars, and I don’t want to say anything that will make them hate me.
“But they kind of tell you what your most memorable year is going to be,” he said.
For Muniz, he was told his memorable year was 2001.
“Because it’s when you were nominated for an Emmy and the Golden Globes’ and all that kind of stuff.
“And I go, ‘I don’t remember what I felt then. I don’t, you know?'” he said.
“It was kind of blowing off the fact that I can’t say ‘That’s my favorite year’ because I can’t tell you what happened in 2001.
“I had to say, like, ‘I don’t really remember.’ But I wasn’t saying I don’t remember anything,” Muniz confessed.
And now, Muniz has opened up about another issue surrounding Malcolm in the Middle — the whereabouts of the actor who played Dewey…
Erik Per Sullivan who played Dewey, the youngest child of the infamous family, has rarely been seen in public since the show, and many fans find this a little suspect.
“To be honest, I don’t know what he’s up to,” Muniz explained. “I hate to say that because I’ve talked to him a few times since the show ended.”
“I’ve talked to his parents a lot. When I was in the band, we went and played in the city where he lives and his parents came to the show but unfortunately he couldn’t make it.
“So I got to talk to them, and he’s been all over doing a lot of different things,” he said.
“But one thing I know, some actors or some people just got to do it when they were a kid and then they wanted to experience other things and kind of live a more normal life out of the spotlight.
“I think that’s what he wanted to do, so good for him,” Muniz said.
