Actor Mike Hagerty has sadly died aged sixty-seven years old.
Mike Hagerty was most recognizable for his roles in Friends and
Curb Your Enthusiasm.
As well as these, Hagerty also appeared in HBO’s Somebody Somewhere, along with co-star and friend, comedian Bridget Everett.
It was Bridgett who shared the devastating news of his death on her Instagram, Friday, May 6.
“With great sadness, the family of Michael G Hagerty announced his death yesterday in Los Angeles. A beloved character actor, his love of his hometown of Chicago and his family were the cornerstones of his life,” she wrote.
Hagerty played Everett’s character’s father, Ed Miller, in the HBO comedy Somebody Somewhere.
The actor also played the role of superintendent, Mr. Treeger, at the apartment building where Friends took place.
He first appeared in the episode “The One Where Heckles Dies,” when the group is helping clean out Heckles’ apartment, but the season 4 episode “The One With the Ballroom Dancing,” is probably his most notable, which sees Joey teach him how to dance to stop Rachel and Monica from being evicted.

He appeared in; FOX’s The George Carlin Show, Boston Legal, Cheers, Glee, Entourage, HBO’s Lucky Louie, Seinfeld, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, just to name a few.
Fans online have been sharing their tributes to Hagerty, with one Twitter user writing: “RIP Mike Hagerty. Funny, sweet, and a total pro. Thanks for the decades of laughs.”
Another wrote: “Rest in Peace to Mike Hagerty. If you watched TV/Movies in the 90s, then you know that Mike is one of the all-time “That Guys”. Always loved when he popped up and his roles in Wayne’s World and Seinfeld are legendary.”
Hagerty is survived by his wife Mary Kathryn and sister Mary Ann.
