We’ve all seen the rather colorful vegan protests outside of shops or restaurants, right? And some may agree with it, whereas some may not.
But now, a new group of angry vegans have arisen.
And they’re furious with a sign that is erected outside of a butchers shop.
It’s safe to say that veganism is taking over the world.
The general consensus in 2022 seems to be that consuming meat is harming the planet and just plain cruel.
More people are now ditching their steaks and switching to a plant-based diet.
Trying to make wiser decisions about their food consumption.
But what does plant-based mean?
It’s a phrase that’s thrown around an awful lot these days but, to put it simply, the term plant-based is used to describe a diet that cuts out all (or most, in some cases) animal-based products, such as meat, fish, and dairy.
The lifestyle choice has been steadily on the rise for the last couple of years…
Whether it be for health reasons or more ethical concerns, the trend of cutting out animal products from food and drink is completely booming.
And many of those who have cut out animal products like to encourage people to do the same.
May that be through word of mouth, on social media, or a protest.
But vegans can also have something of a bad reputation.
Take a vegan cafe, for example, which had the whole internet talking.
The drama unfolded on a Reddit thread.
“One day some women came in for lunch and one had a child about four years old.”
“They ordered and asked for a plate for the kid’s sandwich. This is already a more substantial meal than what we usually expect but whatever.”
“When I take their food over I realize that the kid is eating a ham sandwich (quite obvious as the kid is ripping it up and spreading bits about etc).”
“I tell the women that meat can’t be eaten on the premises (this was inside) and they need to put the stuff back in the Tupperware.”
“They get upset and say the kid will go hungry and I say they’re welcome to order one of our vegan sandwiches or anything else.”
“I say that they could have eaten another type of sandwich – even a vegetarian but not vegan sandwich would have been more acceptable – but in the interests of our other customers we cannot have ham eaten here, especially inside and especially using our plates.”
“They get angrier and say they’ll take their meals to go and won’t be back. On the way out, they shout that I’m disgusting for depriving a child of its food.”
“I can see their point, but also think they should have thought more before coming to our cafe.”
And well, what’s the point of going to a vegan cafe if you aren’t going to eat vegan food, right?
But now, a bunch of furious vegans who complained after they saw an erected sign outside of a butchers shop have yet again, got people talking about the subject.
And there’s been a lot to say.
A butchers shop in Edinburgh had a sign that a few vegans weren’t all too impressed with.
The shop W.M Christie Butchers put up a sign outside their shop, which has led to some furious plant-based eaters saying that they are actually ‘psychopaths’ for their actions. Is it me or is it getting a little heated?
Keep scrolling to see what the sign said.
1 of the vegans who was sickened by the sign she read spoke about it to Edinburgh Live saying she didn’t understand how people can eat meat.
“I just think it’s nonsense, I don’t understand, how can they justify killing an animal like that. It only brings anger, and fights and I don’t find that funny. Surely eating plants is less damaging to the environment, and plants, unlike animals are not sentient,” she said to the outlet.
Another woman, Shay-li Menzilevsky, said that the shop was full of “psychopaths.”
And Kevin Thompson said that people will “cling” onto anything in order to “justify” killing animals.
“You just can’t say I murdered a carrot. People will cling to all sorts of nonsense to justify murdering animals…. animals that have exactly the same fundamental wishes as us – to be happy, safe, and free from suffering,” he expressed.
Now, although we should never judge another person for expressing their beliefs, a lot of people found it hard to take the complaining plant eaters seriously.
Mainly because it was reportedly a bit of ‘humor’.
However, vegans and vegetarians alike think that the butchers shop completely missed the point.
And if you haven’t guessed already, the butchers shop made a little joke, playing on the argument vegans and vegetarians usually make when expressing dismay with killing innocent animals for food.
The sign read: “Every day thousands of innocent plants are killed by vegetarians. Help end the violence. Eat meat.”
What do you think about this? Is it too far?
