A huge movement is taking place in our country right now with each and every one of our states becoming involved in protests.

The Black Lives Matter movement has never before been so prominent.

Last week, on Monday, May 25th, a defenseless black man was killed while in a police restraint.

George Floyd was arrested and forced to the ground...

Where former police officer, Derek Chauvin, proceeded to kneel on his neck, while 3 other officers knelt on his back.

Footage of George's "arrest" quickly circulated on social media...

And, in the highly distressing scenes, he could be heard begging with the officers to release him and repeatedly saying "Please, please... I can't breathe."

After nearly ten minutes, George was completely unresponsive.

An ambulance arrived and took the unconscious man to hospital but, devastatingly, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. He was only forty-six years old.

This kind of police brutality has been happening for centuries now...

But George's death has sparked an outrage like never before.

Thousands upon thousands of people have been taking to the streets in protest...

And they are all marching for one thing: For the blatant racism and injustice in this country to be brought to an end.

But things have been quick to turn violent.

The scenes unfolding across our country have been becoming steadily more violent on both sides.

It's a truly terrifying time.

But change needs to happen and, at the moment, this seems like the only way to make it happen.

But, remarkably, they seem to be working.

Thanks to these riots, the Black Lives Matter movement is dominating global headlines, and it has completely taken over social media.

Everyone is talking about it.

This week, the hashtag #BlackOutTuesday started trending, with people from all over the world posting a blank black picture to demonstrate their solidarity with the movement.

And, of course, an array of celebrities have been jumping on board to show their support.

So many famous faces, such as Madonna, Barack Obama, and Ice Cube, have been speaking out against racism and injustice in, not only this country, but the rest of the world.

These famous figures have been using their platform to highlight the ongoing issues black men and women face every day...

And they have been urging their followers to educate themselves, donate to useful causes, and to strive towards a racism-free future.

We need change.

Because black people have previously been forced to stay silent on the unlawful killings taking place by authoritative figures, they have decided to become more vocal and take action.

Protests have continued day and night...

And most of them started off peaceful...

But after the introduction of the police force and the National Guard, clashes between both sides have caused a lot of chaos.

Some people used this incident as a means of personal gain, so they could damage property and steal things that did not belong to them. The term "looting" has been spreading like wildfire across the nation.

But what we must remember is that this is a result of years of pent up frustration at a system that does not respect black lives.

It's not about "all police officers" or "all lives", it's about the system on which our society was built on and that's what needs to be reformed.

However, it is also difficult for people that have been caught in the crossfire...

Such as business owners and journalists who have been unfairly targeted by both people that are only out to cause havoc and uncivilized members of the police force.

This is why celebrities and other famous faces are donating money to help out.

But they're not the only ones donating money. We are, too.

Just over a week ago, the Official George Floyd Memorial Fund, a GoFundMe page, was launched.

The support it has received has surpassed anything that anyone could have ever believed.

Already it has received just short of 500,000 donations.

Creating an enormous total of over $13 million donated, with the donations coming from over 125 countries.

In fact, the donations received are the largest ever.

Speaking to TMZ, a spokesperson for the site said that 'the Official George Floyd Memorial Fund has already received the highest number of individual donations for a GoFundMe page'.

It's great to see so many people offering their support.

The money raised will be used to help his family.

George's brother, Philonise Floyd, organized the GoFundMe.

On there he explained: "This fund is established to cover funeral and burial expenses, mental and grief counseling, lodging and travel for all court proceedings, and to assist our family in the days to come as we continue to seek justice for George."

"A portion of these funds will also go to the Estate of George Floyd for the benefit and care of his children and their educational fund."
