As the protests continue to rage on across the country, some protestors have taken it upon themselves to re-arrange the furniture in their local areas, starting with all the "racist statues."

The latest to fall has been none other than our founding father, George Washington. And the photographs are not pretty, ladies and gentlemen.

But change needs to happen and, at the moment, this seems like the only way to make it happen.

Remarkably, however, they seem to be working.

Thanks to these riots, the Black Lives Matter movement is dominating global headlines, and it has completely taken over social media.

It has also taken over our streets...

For instance, a group of people painted large yellow letters saying "Black Lives Matter" down two blocks of 16th Street in D.C - a two-lane road that coincidentally leads to the White House.

Protests have been happening across the pond too...

Hundreds of thousands of people have been taking to the streets in the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

We are witnessing history in the making...

And people are continuing to demand justice.

One of the most recent events is the tearing down of statues of slave traders and other controversial figures by protesters.

Across the pond in the UK, a video went viral of protesters tearing down a statue of 17th Century slave trader Edward Colston and tossing it into a nearby river.

Colston was a slave trader.

Colston was Conservative MP for Bristol following his tenure as deputy governor of the Royal African Company. He is thought to have trafficked as many as 84,000 African men, women, and children, with an estimated 19,000 dying on their journey to the Caribbean and America.

A statue of Christopher Columbus in Virginia was another of those torn down and defaced.

The statue was ninety-three years old and had been standing there to commemorate the Italian explorer.

Controversy has surrounded Columbus' name for many years now...

His transatlantic voyages unlocked an entire continent for European colonization and turned the Italian explorer into a modern symbol of conquest and violence for native Americans.

It didn't take long for the protesters to completely dislodge the statue...

And this is when things turned ugly.

The statue was set on fire and covered in graffiti...

And protesters then dumped it in Richmond's Fountain lake as a final demand for justice.

But the latest statue to face the wrath of protestors is none other than the founding father.

Today is the 22nd consecutive day of protesting here in the States and with more fuel added to the fire after another black man, Rayshard Brookes, was shot twice in the back by a police officer, it won't be letting up any time soon.

In Portland, George Washington was ripped from his stand and set on fire.

In images captured by Garrison Davis, you can see the old statue has been defaced and vandalized before being set on fire along with a burning flag.

It was rumored that a group of twenty people did this.

Reports state that "a separate group of about 20 people met at NE Sandy Boulevard and NE 57th Avenue around 10 PM at the site of a large bronze statue of George Washington."

They continued:

Some wrapped the statue’s head in an American flag and lit the flag on fire. Their numbers grew over the next hour until there were enough people to pull the statue to the ground. The police arrived a little later.

Here are some of the pictures uploaded to Twitter:

The monument and its base were covered in vandalism, including the phrases: “Murder," “Big Floyd," “1619,", “BLM," “Land Back," “White Fragility," and “You’re on Native Land."

And The Oregonian also obtained this snapshot:

The statue, which was situated in front of Jefferson High School and across the bottom of the base, you can see the words "slave owner" written across it. No arrests have been made yet. Keep scrolling to see why these celebrities were called out because of their reaction to the BLM movement...
