Armelia McQueen has lost her life...

She was only sixty-eight-years-old.

McQueen hails from Southern Pines, North Carolina...

But she relocated to Brooklyn, New York, at a young age following the divorce of her parents.

McQueen then graduated from Central Commercial High School (now Norman Thomas High School) in 1969.

She also attended the Fashion Industry School, majoring in fashion design...

And it wasn't until 1972 when she attended Herbert Berghof's Drama School.

Her acting career began when she was hired for a role in the production of, Hot & Cold Heroes.

The young actress was then hired in 1976 for the role of Tune Ann in the cult classic film Sparkle.

Her Broadway debut came in 1978...

She starred in the original production of, Ain’t Misbehavin’, appearing alongside Irene Cara, Ken Page, and Nell Carter. McQueen went on to win a Theatre World Award for Best Debut Performance and appeared in several Broadway productions, including Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Dance, and Harrigan and Hart.

The majority of which were made-for-television movies and sitcoms including Mr. BelvedereFrank’s PlaceAction Jackson, and No Holds Barred.

But later in 1990...

McQueen was featured as Whoopi Goldberg’s on-screen sister when she starred in the hit film Ghost.

But in more recent times, tragedy struck.

The news has come in that Armelia McQueen has passed away at the age of sixty-eight.

Deadline reported that the actress lost her life on Saturday 3rd October.

Since the news broke, tributes and condolences have been flooding in for the star.
