A 4-year-old girl has been found wandering around New York City alone at night, and no one has come forward to claim her.

The heartbreaking social media post has left people utterly shocked…

It’s a heartwrenching reality that so many children don’t have a permanent home…

Which is especially a problem here in the United States.

Did you know that right now, there are roughly 443,000 children living in foster care?

And to make things even more tragic, these children are in foster care due to no fault of their own.

Many children are placed in foster care as babies…

But often, children are removed from abusive or neglectful family homes for their own safety and wellbeing – which is sadly becoming a common occurrence.

This is extremely traumatic for a young child…

But something that can be even more traumatic?

Being abandoned.

Because believe it or not, so many children get completely abandoned and left alone by their parents or guardians.

This brings us to today’s tragic story…

And it has left many parents absolutely sickened and shocked…

The 4-year-old girl was found walking around New York City by herself at night. Despite the police’s best efforts, she still hasn’t been claimed 3 days later.

The girl, whose name is Sidaya, was picked up by NYPD officers on Saturday on East 156 Street in the Bronx.

But police still haven’t been able to track down Sidaya’s parents or caregivers, despite multiple posts online.

She has since been placed in NYC’s Administration for Children’s Services, while they continue to look for her family.

Police released surveillance footage showing the girl walking with a woman shortly before she was found by police.

The woman can be seen walking a few yards in front.

She can be seen waiting for the girl to catch up before they both move out of view.

The NYPD said they weren’t sure whether the woman had any connection to the child or whether she was just concerned for her wellbeing.

The woman has been described as being in her twenties and about 5’2, and has yet to be identified.

The girl was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln by police, where she was reported to be in good health.
The NYPD has asked anyone with information to call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
