Glen Powell just revealed something surprising about his relationship with his latest rom-com co-star.
The Top Gun actor is set to star alongside Sydney Sweeney in their upcoming romantic comedy, Anyone But You.
The film follows Sweeney as Bea and Powell as Ben, a pair whose relationship unexpectedly fizzles out after an amazing first date.
They later find themselves at the same destination wedding in Australia, and despite their disdain for one another, the two decide to pretend to be the perfect couple.
The onscreen couple quickly sparked rumors of an offscreen romance once photos of them went public at CinemaCon in April 2023.
Any romantic comedy co-stars are likely to be linked in their real lives, but once fans saw their chemistry in the real world, rumors began to fly.
Fans saw their connection when Sweeney posted photos of their time together in Australia, where they filmed Anyone But You.
In late April, a video of Powell holding onto and dipping his co-star generated a lot of conversation, only further fueling the relationship rumors.
These rumors are even more salacious because the Euphoria star is said to be engaged to Jonathan Davino, who she has been linked to since 2018.
At the time, Powell was dating model Gigi Paris. The pair had been dating for three years before reports indicated that the pair broke up in late April.
Around that same time, Paris posted a video of herself walking in the street, writing in her caption, “know your worth & onto the next.”
Of course, this got people thinking that the reason for the breakup was infidelity, wondering if Sweeney and Powell really did spark an offscreen romance.
When asked about the rumors during a Variety interview, Sydney said, “It’s a rom-com. That’s what people want! Glen and I don’t really care.”
In a statement at the time, a rep for Powell gave a more straightforward answer, clarifying that the actor was single and that he was “not dating his co-star Sydney Sweeney.”
Now, ahead of the film’s release on Dec. 22, Glen is adding even more fuel to the fire by raving about his chemistry with Sydney.
During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Top Gun star gave his co-star props for her talent and ability to spark the chemistry they have together.
“A great rom-com doesn’t survive without great chemistry, and Sydney is the easiest person to have chemistry with,” Powell gushed.
He continued, “I mean, immediately, it was like we’d known each other forever, and I think anybody that’s been on the set realizes I never get tired of talking to Sydney.”
“We make each other laugh,” Glen said. “She’s awesome, obviously one of the most talented actresses we have.”
“This movie has felt like a rom-com in itself because Sydney is very easy to pretend fall in love with,” Powell gushed.
To confuse fans even more, Powell went on to add that the spirit of a rom-com made it difficult to “differentiate” the things happening behind the camera and off-screen.
“The wild part about being in a rom-com, all the ideas of love are swirling through your head while these big romantic moments are happening,” he said
Glen continued, “So, sometimes (it’s) harder to differentiate between real life and fake life.”
In the same interview with ET, Sydney told the outlet that audiences will “actually get to see the amount of fun that we all had making [Anyone But You]” once the film hits theaters.
“We truly had an amazing experience together, and I really hope that that comes off and everyone can feel that; that love and friendship that was made on this film,” Sweeney said.
Even following the end of filming, Sydney and Glen have remained friends and even joked with each other on social media in recent months.
Sweeney even left a flirty comment on his Instagram post of his Men’s Health cover in November, quipping that that Powell is “just heating up everybody’s winter, huh?”
