Glitter Butt Pumpkins Are Here and They Are Scandalous | 22 Words

If you want to be avant-garde this Halloween, look no further! Glitter pumpkin bums are the latest Halloween Instagram trend that you won't believe until you see. Now, prepare yourself: this look is definitely NSFW. As in, nobody should wear it for a Halloween party for the office, but it sure is festive!

And if the concept of glittery butts seems familiar, that's because this isn't the first time it has been an Instagram trend. Earlier this season, Instagram discovered its fascination with covering a body in glitter rather than clothes. Now, the trend has evolved to suit the season. There are many ways to dress yourself up as a jack-o-lantern for Halloween—this is just the most shocking!

It’s time for twerk or treat:

The trend originated with Go Get Glitter, who posted a pumpkin-butt pic to the brand’s Instagram account at the end of September.

Others picked up on the trend.

A Go Get Glitter Creator talked more about it:

“The glitter bum trend we started is so popular, we wanted to find a way to tie it in with the Halloween content we have been creating," Sophia Levy, makeup artist and co-founder of Go Go Glitter, told Marie Claire.

Haven’t you heard of the glitter bum trend before now?

Because it’s been happening since spring, courtesy of Go Get Glitter.

Go Get Glitter started the trend with this peachy pic ahead of Coachella:

For sure, it’s a memorable look.

“We are all about being creative, free and loving the skin you’re in, which is the message we wanted to portray to people when we created this look," Sophia Levy told Marie Claire on the original creation of the glitter bum.

This was Go Get Glitter’s International Women’s Day post:

“So who knows—maybe jewel underwear will be the next trend?" Sophia Levy added—and Go Get Glitter is certainly making good on that!

The pumpkin bum came as a spin-off of the peach one.

“Our peach bum was, and still is, one of our most popular looks, so we wanted to recreate it with a Halloween twist!" Levy said.

Interested in recreating the look?

When creating the pumpkin, Go Get Glitter “used black and orange paint to draw out the shape, and then filled it in using [the company’s] Glitter Fix and chunky glitter."

People seem to be enjoying the look.

Although it’s probably a bad idea to wear it to the office Halloween party!

Others started cracking jokes.

Hey, both names work…

And some weren’t so enamored of the trend.

It’s definitely not a look for everyone.

It’s a cool idea, though we can’t help but notice one obvious drawback.

Nobody wants glitter stuck in hard to reach places!
