People have been left horrified after hearing that a golfer shot and killed a dog that had stolen his ball on a golf course...

Is there anything better than a dog?

These adorable creatures are basically the best things on earth. If you’re ever feeling down in the dumps, a dog is guaranteed to make you feel better.

They are truly man's best pals.

Whether they’re causing mischief, giving us those puppy eyes when they want a treat, or taking up the entire sofa, many of us couldn’t live without our furry friends.

Once you become a dog-parent, there's no going back...

It’s hard to imagine a life without having a pooch to come home to.

In an age where the internet is so divided, there's one thing we can all agree on...

How utterly amazing (and adorable) our four-legged friends are.

So why would anyone want to harm them?

It's hard to understand, but sadly some people do.

And that brings us back to today's story...

A dog was shot and killed after stealing a golfer's ball from the course.

It's news that has shocked everyone...

Police in Puerto Rico revealed that they had arrested a man accused of shooting and killing a dog that had stolen his ball on a golf course, the Huff Post reports.

The golfer was identified as Salil Zaveri, a sales and marketing consultant.

The incident is thought to have occurred on Saturday 8th at the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Resort.

He reportedly use a 9mm gun to shoot the dog several times, with CBS News' David Begnaud even claiming on Twitter that he "shot the dog twice, then hit the ball to the next hole & then shot the dog again."

Zaveri is believed to have been released on a $60,000 bond with his passport and driver's license being seized.
