In today’s day in age, pretty much anybody can have a baby.

Thanks to the technological advances in IVF, couples who can’t conceive naturally, and who would once have had to admit defeat, can now have families of their own.

There are many options …

But by far the most talked-about is surrogacy.

Now, what exactly is surrogacy?

Surrogacy is an agreement wherein a woman agrees to carry and birth a baby for another person or couple.

The embryo is implanted into a different person’s uterus.

And, from there, the baby will grow and be born from this other woman, rather than its biological mother.

Obviously, agreeing to become a surrogate for someone is a huge commitment…

A surrogate will have to put her body through the journey of pregnancy (and the trauma of labor, of course) for someone else’s happiness and fulfillment…

So, it isn’t a decision to be taken lightly.

Whether it’s a loved one, or a volunteer who will be paid a generous amount for their commitment.

But in this story, the choice of surrogate really is rather unusual …

Nancy Hauck has volunteered to carry her own son’s baby, after it was revealed her daughter-in-law couldn’t carry the child.

Jeff Hauck, 32, and his wife, Cambria, 30, were unable to conceive after Cambria had a hysterectomy!

“I never imagined I would be pregnant at 56 or that this would be possible, but it is the most beautiful thing,” Nancy said.

“They’ve had lots of struggles with infertility – but they had seven embryos to try with IVF and decided they wanted to use them all.”

“Cambria could no longer carry her own children. And I just had a feeling a few months after that I should offer to do it.”

“‘I told my son, and he teared up and was shocked – I hadn’t even told my husband at that point, but he was really supportive!”

Nonetheless, there were concerns surrounding Nancy’s age.

“But to my surprise medics said I was healthy and could do it and here I am.”

“The pregnancy has been very similar to carrying my son, but I’ve been a bit more nauseous. I feel very powerful carrying my son’s daughter.”

The miracle baby is due in November!

“There is no repayment for something like that – all I can do is follow the example my parents have set and try to give that same level of love and devotion to my own family and to others,” Jeff summarized.
