Swedish climate change activist, Greta Thunberg, has this week issued a stern warning to President Biden for his stance on climate change.
Scroll on to hear her scathing words for yourself…
Now, Greta Thunberg has arguably become the face of the youth climate change movement in the last couple of years.
The eighteen-year-old has been responsible for the global school strike movement, which began with weekly Friday school strikes to protest for climate change action.
In 2018, Greta would regularly sit on her own outside the Swedish houses of parliament to stage the first “School Strike for Climate.”
In the weeks leading up to the country’s general election in August 2018, she sat on the steps outside of the parliament building in Stockholm, holding up the now-iconic sign that read “Skolstrejk För Klimatet” — translating to “school strike for climate.”
She would sit outside the building during school hours for 3 weeks…
With demands that the Swedish government reduces its carbon emissions in accordance with the Paris Agreement.
Her message was clear: we need to act now.
And it didn’t take long for it to gain momentum across the globe.
And now, having whipped up a gigantic global youth movement, climate change is finally getting the attention it deserves, but Greta still believes that governments are the ones who still aren’t listening.
The activist acquires a particular talent of holding governments accountable with her powerful and damming speeches…
So much so, that they have seen her nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize and placed in TIME’s top one-hundred influential people in the world list.
According to Live Kindly, last year, Mohammed Barkindo — the secretary-general of OPEC (the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) — acknowledged public opinion surrounding the climate crisis as a threat to the oil industry.
Including the likes of Michelle Obama, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
However, despite her staggering following and A-lister fan-base…
It seems that Greta still isn’t happy with the actions of some of our world leaders.
As stated earlier, the young woman has slammed President Biden for his stance on climate change.
In a move that has come as a shock to many, Greta has criticised Biden for not listening to “the science” of the climate epidemic.
Now, this isn’t the first time the activist has come after one of our leaders.
You’ll all remember her turbulent relationship with former-president, Donald Trump, right?
But with President Biden, most of us thought that she would enjoy a somewhat pleasant relationship…
You know, because of his admirable effort to put the U.S back in the Paris agreement.
Well, how wrong we were.
In a recent appearance on MSNBC over the weekend, Greta weighed in on Biden’s performance as president so far…
And let’s just say, she isn’t too impressed.
Some people agreed with what she had to say…
However, others called out Greta for wading into territory that doesn’t concern her.
When asked what grade she would give Biden for his performance in office so far, Greta responded:
“Well, you shouldn’t take that from me because I’m just a teenager, so I’m not, I don’t have the mandate to sort of give grades like that… my opinions on this don’t matter. But you should look at the science, and whether his [Biden’s] policies are in line with the Paris agreements and to stay below 1.5 or even 2 degrees Celsius, and then you can clearly see that, no, it’s not nearly enough in line with the science.”
The host then noted that Biden had rejoined the Paris Climate Accord, and had started to roll back some of Trump’s environmental policies, before asking what she would suggest Biden do.
“I would just like you to basically just treat the climate crisis like a crisis. They have said themselves that this is an existential threat,” she responded, adding that Biden isn’t handling it as such. “They are just treating the climate crisis as it was a political topic, among other topics and, yeah, treat it as a crisis, that’s the No. 1 step.”

President Biden is yet to respond to her comments.
