Going on to release her first 2 albums, Geidi Primes, and Halfaxa, in 2010.

However, she began to see an increase in popularity after her third studio album, Visions, in 2012.

This propelled her into the spotlight, with the singles ‘Genesis’ and ‘Oblivion’ becoming fan favorites.

Her fourth studio album, Art Angels, was released in 2015 and was subsequently named album of the year.

Her latest album is Miss Anthropocene, which was released in 2020.

Grimes’ music has been described as a mix between lo-fi R&B and futuristic dance pop.

And as well as gaining a platform from her music, she is also known for being a gamer.

The singer has even voiced a character in the 2020 RPG video game Cyberpunk 2077.

But outside of her working life, the star has gained publicity for her unique image.

As well as her relationship with multi-billionaire Elon Musk.

With whom she shares 2 children.

The pair began dating in 2018 and welcomed a son named X Æ A-Xii back in May 2020.

However, in 2021, just a year after Grimes gave birth to their first child, they split.

But got back together for a short while after.

They also share a daughter named Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, who was born via surrogate in March this year.

Sadly the pair are no longer together, and Grimes addressed their breakup in an interview with Vanity Fair

Later taking to Twitter to share the news herself, she wrote: “Me and E have broken up *again* since the writing of this article, haha.

“But he’s my best friend and the love of my life.

“And my life and art are forever dedicated to The Mission now, I think Devin wrote that part of the story really well. Sique – peace out.”

Now, Grimes often posts pictures and videos of herself dressed in all things weird and wonderful.

Whether she’s taking inspiration from mythical creatures, or dressed head to toe in metal armor, she’s done it all.

Recently, the singer uploaded a photo to her Twitter account, leaving many fans baffled.

Grimes posted a picture of her head bandaged up, along with the caption: “I did smthn crazy!”

And instantly fans rushed to the comment section to share their thoughts on what cosmetic procedure she had done.

“I think she got elf ears,” one fan wrote.

However, some think she’s done more than that…

“Not just elf ears look at how swollen her face is, you can see the needle points from where she got filler in her lips and her… cheeks? Whatever it’s her prerogative if she wants to do that but I’m kinda surprised tbh,” another commented.

Another shared their concern for her mental health…

Writing: “I really haven’t enjoyed watching one of my favorite artists slowly drive me toward ever-increasing concern for her mental health. It’s gone from the quirky Grimes I love to serious concern.”

Soon after, Grimes went viral once more.

This time for her comments about motherhood…

“I think having a baby was a big rebirth for me, like, artistically,” she shared in a video for Vogue.

“Being a mother feels weird to say. For some reason, I don’t identify with that word.

“Which is also really weird because X, he says ‘Claire,’ but he doesn’t say ‘mama’—which is so…I’m like, ‘How are you…?’

“Like, maybe he can sense my distaste for the word mother,” Grimes added.

“I don’t even know why I have a distaste for [the word] because I respect…I just, I don’t, I can’t identify with it, weirdly.”

Soon after, though, another story about motherhood shocked the internet!

Grimes and Elon Musk had to change their son’s name!

Because their original choice was not permitted by law.

The baby’s name was X Æ A-12, which is pronounced ‘Ex Ash A Twelve.’

However, it has since been changed to X Æ A-Xii.

“In California, you can only use the 26 characters of the English language in your baby name,” attorney David Glass told People.

“Thus, you can’t have numbers, Roman numerals, accents, umlauts or other symbols or emojis. Although an apostrophe, for a name like ‘O’Connor,’ is acceptable.

“They have an opportunity to appeal the rejection of the birth certificate application but it’s unlikely that it will be granted because, again, California… has been struggling with using symbols.”

Another naming controversy…

Grimes has changed the name of her daughter to a symbol, but she says the government won’t officially acknowledge it.

According to the singer, her 15-month-old formerly known as Exa Dark Sideræl now has a shorter name.

“She’s Y now, or “Why?” or just “?” (But the government won’t recognize that)”

“Curiosity, the eternal question,  .. and such,” she wrote on X while announcing the new name.

Grimes made the big reveal after sharing a rare photograph of her child.

Grimes clarified that while she and Musk typically do not share images of their daughter to protect her privacy, she posted this image as their daughter looked “fairly unrecognizable” in it.
