Elon Musk and Grimes whipped up a social media firestorm when they announced the rather unconventional name for their first baby together – X Æ A-12.
Now, it seems Grimes has hit the headlines for a very different reason… for selling a “piece of her soul” to the highest bidder.
Yep, really. Keep scrolling to find out what it is estimated to be valued at…
Mainly due to the rather unconventional name they chose for their baby.
And it’s all-out bizarre.
Grimes, whose real name is Claire Boucher, went public with the billionaire at the Met Gala in 2018.
And on Grimes’ Instagram page, which is certainly a rollercoaster experience when scrolling through it, there is no sign at all of Musk.
Rumors began to circulate around Grimes being pregnant with Musk’s child.
She revealed to the media that she was, indeed, 7-months pregnant with Musk’s child.
Grimes said music and “raving” would play a big part in it.
“The baby has already been exposed to a lot of techno in the womb,” she said.
Grimes announced that they planned on raising their child as gender-neutral.
When asked, “Will you have a boy or a girl?”, Grimes replied, “They may decide their fate and identity.”
Talking on YouTube, Grimes added, “I don’t want to say the gender of the baby… because I feel like their privacy should be protected. I don’t think they can consent to being famous or being in public. And I don’t want to gender them in case that’s not how they feel in their life. I don’t know, I just feel like it doesn’t need to be known.”
We should completely respect that fact, but this is not their only controversial decision…
But Musk already has 5 children, a set of twins and triplets with his ex-wife Justine Wilson.
Now that’s a lot of children.
And this Twitter user was completely right, because Musk’s photo shortly after the birth completely broke the internet…
Finally, the happy day arrived for the couple.
On May 4th, Grimes and Musk welcomed their baby into the world, with Musk sharing this adorable photo on Twitter in response to eager fans.
Showing you’re never too young for some ink…
It’s fake, obviously.
And when asked what the baby’s name is, Musk replied with, “X Æ A-12 Musk.”
But it really wasn’t. The baby was actually called “X Æ A-12 Musk.”
People have been trolling the hell out of it.
And the cruel memes just don’t seem to be stopping.
Grimes responded in the best possible way.
“I think it sounds like the name of the main character in the story… I hope he vibes with that. Ok, going back into the pain/beauty reverie for sum time just came on to add my thoughts – peace and love,” she wrote back.
By using the pronoun “he.”
California law prohibits Indo-Arabic numerals in names.
Forcing them to change their son’s name.
She revealed the long-awaited name in her Instagram comments.
Baby X Æ A-Xii.
Yep, not really much of a difference (aka it’s still, well, bizarre) – the couple simply substituted in the Roman numerals signifying “12.”
The singer revealed to Bloomberg that she’s planning to selling a piece of her soul for the “best offer.”
And she already had an idea of its estimated value.
Grimes said she planned to list it for $10 million.
The exhibition also includes drawings, prints, and photos.
It seems the star doesn’t actually want anyone to buy it.
Don’t worry, we’re just as confused as you right now…
“I didn’t want anyone to buy it, so I said we should make it $10m, and then it probably won’t sell.”
The press release reveals more details surrounding the event: “Selling Out is executed as a contract in which Grimes sells a fraction of her soul, formalizing the idea that every time an artist sells a piece of their art, part of the soul is sold with it.
Especially seen as she admitted she doesn’t want anyone to buy it.
