A heartwarming interaction has lead to a lifelong friendship being made between 2 unlikely individuals…

Eric Haralsons was sat eating at a local McDonalds when he was approached by an elderly woman named Jan.

Jan had previously tried to initiate a conversation with a group of teens, who were also sat eating in the restaurant, only to be rejected.

Jan then decided to ask Eric if she could sit with him…

“My reply was ‘of course’ because that’s just who I am,” he told TODAY. “So she grabbed her food, I pushed her chair out for her and introduced myself.”

Eric saw Jan’s attempts at trying to talk with the other young men in McDonalds and wanted to offer her his company.

“One of the kids had a man bun,” Eric told Good Morning America.
“She was very intrigued by it and asked what made him come up with that hairstyle. They didn’t talk to her that much. She said ‘what, did I scare them off?’ I said ‘I guess you did.'”

But little did they know, their heartwarming meet-cute was being watched from afar…

Amanda Craft, a teacher from Noblesville, Indiana, snapped a picture of their dinner date, before sharing it online, and it quickly went viral.

She captioned the post: “Shout out to this guy! This elderly lady (who seemed to be a little lonely) came up to him and asked if she could sit with him. My friends and I watched him introduce himself and shake her hand. They talked and laughed together like they were friends. They didn’t know each other, and they couldn’t be more different. But today they shared a meal together and it touched our hearts.”

The post quickly gained thousands of likes and comments from people praising Eric for his kindness…

Speaking out about their impromptu date, Eric told TODAY: “She is a wonderful woman. She mentioned many times how we all should love one another, and how we should not judge anyone because you never know how their day is going and what they’ve been through.”

We should all try and be a little more like Eric.
