Gymnast Falls 260 Feet To Her Death ‘While Taking A Selfie’ At Popular Tourist Spot

The 23-year-old athlete, known for her grace and skill, met her end at the iconic Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, Germany, on August 15.  

As she posed for photos against the backdrop that inspired Disney’s Sleeping Beauty, disaster struck.  

Natalie tumbled 80 meters down the rugged slopes of Tegelberg Mountain while trying to capture the perfect Instagram shot.  

Eyewitnesses revealed that she was perilously close to the cliff’s edge when she fell, though it’s unclear whether she slipped or the edge gave way.  

A close friend shared the chilling details: “She fell from a height of about 80 meters. We’ll never know if she slipped or if the rock broke off.”  

Natalie was accompanied by her boyfriend, David, and two friends during the ill-fated climb, which police described as “challenging.”  

 Despite her harrowing fall, Natalie was airlifted to a hospital with severe injuries.  

Tragically, she was taken off life support just days later after it was determined she had irreversible brain damage.  

 Her death was confirmed on August 21, leaving her family and friends in profound grief.  

Sokol Pribram Sports Gymnastics, the club where Natalie honed her talents, expressed their deep sorrow.  

Their tribute read: “With deep sorrow, we announce that our wonderful friend, gymnast, representative, and coach, Natalka Stichova, has left us forever due to a tragic accident.”  

 “She lost her fight for life on August 21 at 5:30 a.m. Natalka spread smiles throughout her short life, and that is how we will remember her forever.”  

The gymnasium invited mourners to light candles in her honor, a symbolic gesture of remembrance and respect.  

Natalie’s mother described her as “the sweetest person,” a sentiment echoed by all who knew her.  

But Neuschwanstein Castle, with its fairy-tale allure, hides a darker history.  

 In June of the previous year, a shocking crime marred the castle’s reputation.  

Michigan native Troy Bohling, 31, was convicted of raping and murdering 21-year-old Eva Liu, and attempted to assault her friend, Kelsey Chang, 23.  

 Bohling had lured the women to a secluded viewpoint before unleashing his horrific attack. 

Liu tragically died from her injuries, while Chang survived the ordeal.  

Bohling’s gruesome act earned him a life sentence in March, but the scars of the crime remain.  

 Bavarian police reported that Bohling had tricked the victims into a hard-to-spot trail leading to a viewpoint.  

 According to police spokesman Holger Stabik, “The younger of the two women was attacked by the suspect. The older one tried to rush to her aid, was then choked by the suspect and subsequently pushed down a slope.”  

The castle, once a beacon of enchantment, now bears a grim legacy.  

 Natalie’s tragic accident and Bohling’s horrific crime cast a shadow over the castle’s storybook charm.
