Halsey has had a pretty interesting life, full of trials and tribulations.

Scroll on to find out more…
Now, Halsey is an American singer and songwriter.
The singer, whose real name is Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, hails from New Jersey and she broke into the music industry the right way.
She started writing music when she was 17, and in 2012, she began posting videos to YouTube and Tumblr.
While they were figuring things out, she spent the first few years of their young adult life living in a basement in Manhattan, and she even considered prostitution to make ends meet.
Thankfully, just 2 years later she was signed with Astralwerks, and their career started to take off.
Speaking to Rolling Stone back in 2016, the twenty-six-year-old discussed their suicide attempt when they were seventeen and how they have been diagnosed as having bipolar.
She felt like music could help her become someone different.
“I grew up in a really chaotic household… There was always s*** being thrown,” she explained. “I didn’t like being Ashley Frangipane,” she said, “It was a person I thought was weak and silly and sad.”
She was later kicked out of her house and began doing drugs.
When she was seventeen and was recovering from her suicide attempt, the singer was dating a man and he lived on Halsey Street in New York.
Halsey is also an anagram of Ashley…
And thus, the Halsey we all know and love today was born.
So how exactly did they become a singer?
We all know it isn’t exactly easy to be noticed as a professional musician, especially when you’re living rough with no money.
She first became popular online for her parody of Taylor Swift’s song ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’.
She then began posting videos of herself singing covers on Youtube and Tumblr under the username se7enteenblack.
This was noticed by a music producer who then asked her to collaborate with him on a song.
This was when she wrote ‘Ghost’, and after uploading it to Soundcloud, she woke up the next day to messages from 5 different recording labels.
This began her leap into stardom.
After touring with The Kooks and performing several original songs, Halsey released her debut Room 93 which immediately made it into the US Billboard 200.
Her debut album Badlands came in 2015 and after it was certified platinum along with 4 of its singles, she has continued to rise to fame over the years after producing more music and collaborating with other artists such as The Chainsmokers.
All in all, the singer is doing pretty well for herself right now.
Fans love her down-to-earth attitude and real personality.
She is also very much loved for her quirky style.
They are a very active figure on social media…
And their update on social media last year received endless support from her fans…
The singer, who has given birth to their first child, updated their pronouns on Instagram and Twitter…
Later explaining that “the inclusion of ‘they,’ in addition to ‘she,’ feels most authentic to me.”
Halsey has clearly seen the supportive messages from fans…
Sharing “thank you” and a love heart to her Instagram stories. Many have praised Halsey for giving people the confidence to speak openly about their own gender identity.
Back in February last year, Halsey opened up about her thoughts surrounding gender identity on Instagram…
“I‘ve been thinking lots about my body. it’s strange to watch yourself change so quickly. I thought pregnancy would give me very strong, binary feelings about ‘womanhood’ but truly it has leveled my perception of gender entirely.
“My sensitivity to my body has made me hyper-aware of my humanness and that’s all.”
She also hit headlines over the news she’s getting a biopic.
They spoke out on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, revealing the exciting news.
Halsey met Alev Aydin back in 2017, the director was originally hired to write a movie about Halsey, however, the pair hit it off…
And now they share a son, Ender together.
Discussing the biopic on the show, Halsey shared that it would be similar to 8 Mile, with “less spaghetti.”
Jimmy was quick to ask the question we were all wondering… who is going to play her?
And Millie Bobby Brown was the first person he suggested.
“Millie would be great,” Halsey told Jimmy. “But I don’t think I’m famous enough to cast Millie. You’ll do it though, right?”
And Millie picked up on the interview, posting a clip to her Instagram stories with the message: “sooooo down.”
However, the news of her biopic created backlash online, with people wondering why she was being given one.
One Twitter user wrote: “who is asking for a Halsey biopic?”
Another commented: “What’s so interesting about her life that she deserves a biopic? I thought those were only for legends like Aretha, Elvis, and Ray Charles.”
One angry user wrote: I can’t believe everyone is angrier about a Halsey biopic instead of the fact millie bobby brown is a white woman wanting to play the role of a woman who is a BIRACIAL BLACK WOMAN.
“‘Millie bobby brown wants to play Halsey in a biopic’ first of all who tf is making a Halsey biopic, and second of all why would anyone pick her white a** when Halsey is half black. White women get fillers and start acting a FOOL,” another commented.
And it seems Halsey saw the comments questioning the biopic, so much so, that she replied…
She wrote: “I just wanna say RE: “why would Halsey have a biopic”, I didn’t show up somewhere and ask someone to make a movie about me. a studio bought the rights to make it ONE DAY & I said “ok! cool.” Best thing that ever happened to me bc the guy hired to write it became my baby daddy!”

But this week, it’s Halsey’s pronouns that have caught the media’s attention.
She recently confirmed she goes by both she/her and they/them pronouns.
Writing on X: “For those asking RE: my updated Instagram bio, I am happy with either pronoun. The inclusion of ‘they’, in addition to ‘she’, feels most authentic to me. If you know me at all you know what it means to me to express this outwardly. Thanks for being the best.”
However, she also called out a magazine for not respecting this.
“First, your writer made a focal point in my cover story my pronouns and you guys deliberately disrespected them by not using them in the article.”
“Do f***ing better…? #NoMorePress goodbye.”
What do you think of her tirade?
