First Trailer Drops For Guy Ritchie’s Incredibly Violent Nazi Film Starring Henry Cavill

The first trailer for the film was released on January 30, showing the Superman star in his latest leading man role.

In the movie, Cavill leads a “secret combat unit, composed of a motley crew of rogues and mavericks,” according to a synopsis.

That motley crew “goes on a daring mission against the Nazis using entirely unconventional and utterly ‘ungentlemanly’ fighting techniques.”

According to a press release, Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is based on true event from recently declassified files of the British War Department.

The film is adapted from the book The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare: How Churchill’s Secret Warriors Set Europe Ablaze and Gave Birth to Modern Black Ops by Damien Lewis.

The operation was the “first-ever special forces organization formed during World War II by U.K. Prime Minister Winston Churchill and a small group of military officials, including [James Bond] author Ian Fleming.”

“Ultimately their audacious approach changed the course of the war and laid the foundation for the British SAS and modern Black Ops warfare,” the synopsis continues.

Cavill took to Instagram in April to talk about completing work on the film.

In his post, he praised Guy Ritchie and the rest of the team for their dedication in making such a unique film.

“It’s rare to come across a team so driven, dedicated and committed to the storytelling.”

He continued, “That drive and dedication is only intensified by having a leader such as Guy Ritchie.”

“His ability to weave story and create character might be second to none, and he wields it like it were magic,” the actor gushed in his caption.

Cavill continued to talk about just how much he enjoyed his time on the set of Ungentlemanly Warfare, emphasizing just how important it is for actors to be happy while working on a film.

“Those ingredients — skill, drive, and exceptional talent at the top — are only three of the ingredients needed for an experience that will last forever in memory,” Henry wrote.

“The fourth is happiness.”

“Guy creates happiness on his set, it’s a joyful place to be, full of laughter and japes and jests,” the star said of the director.

Cavill concluded, “The crew and cast’s approach and personality is key in this. Everyone, without fail, was able to enjoy themselves while also working hard and being exceptional.”
