These Objects Were Created For Only One Job

Usually, when we say “You had one job,” it means that someone has messed up in a big, big way. But in this article, you’ll notice that the phrase means quite the opposite.

The tools you are about to see have exactly one job, and they do it exceptionally well. Seriously, these are the tools people talk about when they say robots are coming to take your position. They have been designed with exactly one thing in mind: to do a job and to do it well– and I think they are pretty darn incredible. There’s something so satisfying about seeing a machine work exactly the way it is supposed to.

If you’ve been feeling a little unproductive lately, then watching these GIFs and videos will inspire you to be your best self. Or maybe they’ll make you wallow in self-pity for a bit as you realize that machines are coming for us all…

This butter spreader:

I don’t make grilled cheese sandwiches all that often, but if I ever got my hands on one of these things, I would only make grilled cheese sandwiches.

This rice ball maker:

At first, I thought he hadn’t filled each section up enough, but I was wrong. He did everything perfectly.

This ping-pong ball collector:

And to think of all the time I’ve wasted bending over to pick up ping-pong balls! Never again!

This cable taper:

I imagine that this is the type of invention that completely changes the game for people who work on movie and TV sets. It also looks like it would be a fun object to use.

This bag filler:

Watching this tool in motion is like watching a beautiful, efficient ballet. A ballet of sandbags.

This measuring tool:

I don’t know exactly how it works, but I kind of don’t want to know, either. It’d be like a magician revealing their secrets.

This egg cracker:

I could watch this for a couple hours at least. It’s better than the yule log on Netflix.

This selfie stand:

I love that this is a Boy Scout project. They saw a need and they filled it. Now everyone can take the perfect selfie!

This tile leveler:

It never occurred to me until now that you have to make tiles level with each other. I can’t imagine how people took selfies before seeing this amazing device.

This donut roller:

It’s like the coolest PlayDoh toy you’ve ever seen. Only better, because in the end, you get real donuts!

This paving machine:

Back in my day, we had to lay each paver down by hand. I’m so glad the robots took over.

This tool that helps you put on screen protectors:

When they ran their finger down the center of the phone screen, I got goosebumps. I’m not ashamed to admit it.

This plowing tool:

Watching him do the entire field was so satisfying! I kind of want to see a giant version now.

This brick roller:

Why take the time to stack heavy bricks when you can form them from the ether with this amazing roller? This changes everything.

This log splitter:

Need some firewood? This thing will get you enough for the entire winter in about three minutes flat.

This lifter machine:

I’ve been hit with the sudden urge to drive straight to Home Depot and lift everything in sight. Do you think they’d mind if I did that?

This paper jogger:

I’ve used one of these before, and they are exactly as satisfying as this video makes them look. All paper should be jogged, don’t you think?

This bun maker:

What do I have to do to get one of these installed in my home? I would also like a machine that makes the dough.

This thing that burns weeds!

It is either that or they’re planting fire. Both options are very cool.

This lockpick gun:

Obviously, this type of tool is not readily available to most people. But that doesn’t make me not want it, even if I don’t have plans of ever picking a lock.

This food table:

Empty table? Not anymore, it’s not! Every restaurant should be using this.

This mowing attachment:

This could have saved me a lot of time as a kid growing up on a lot with a bunch of small trees.

This crème brûlée brûlée-er:

Here’s another awesome tool that uses fire! I can never see enough of ’em.

This corn de-cobber:

Or is it a cob de-corner? Either way, I love that it spits the cob back out, too.

This tree planter:

This is all well and good, but what about a cool tool that takes the trees back out? I’m glad you asked…

This plant remover:

Well, there you have it. Trees go in, and trees go out.

This beer opener:

Do you want a beer? How about twenty-four beers all at once?!

This weed brush:

It’s basically an electric toothbrush for your walkways. I can dig it.

This tile scraper:

This is amazing, but I can’t help but think the guy in the back wishes there was a specialized sweeping tool, too.

This concrete stencil:

What?! You can do that to concrete?! I had no idea. Share this with someone who loves having the right tool for the job!
