Hilary Duff has shared some shocking news about her young daughter and has admitted she feels “so weird” after her diagnosis.
The star has been pretty open about her 16-month-old daughter Mae James Bair‘s health recently.
Scroll on to see what she had to say…
Hilary Duff is an icon…
She’s one of the few people in the world with a truly infectious smile — and when she laughs, it seems to light up the room.
She started out her acting career at a young age…
Duff played the titular character in the classic ’00s teen sitcom, Lizzie McGuire — which, for many of us, was the show that marked our childhoods.
She even went on to do The Lizzie McGuire Movie, which we all know and love…
The 2003 teen romance was set in Rome and gave us one of the best musical numbers of all time. You may also recognize her from teen rom-coms like A Cinderella Story, plus her cameo role in Gossip Girl.
It’s no surprise Duff has left a string of broken hearts over the years…
After dating musicians, Aaron Carter and Joel Madden, in her teens, Duff eventually married Canadian NHL player, Mike Comrie, in August 2010.
The pair then welcomed their son, Luca Cruz Comrie, who was born in March 2012…
Here are the 3 of them together.
Their relationship seemed to be going well, with the little family often spotted out together.
Now 9 years old, Luca makes regular guest appearances on Duff’s social media pages — and it appears that the 2 are very close.
Sadly, in January 2014, Duff and Comrie announced they were splitting up.
Reportedly, their separation and divorce were amicable, and the 2 continue to co-parent Luca.
Duff then met her now partner Matthew Koma.
She met the musician, singer, and songwriter when working on her 2015 album, Breathe In. Breathe Out., and 2 years later, in January 2017, the pair got together.
And the pair seemingly hit it off pretty well, so much so…
Duff announced that she and Koma were pregnant in June 2018.
Just 4 months before she welcomed baby Banks to the world.
Duff gave birth to her second child and first daughter, Banks Violet Bair, via water birth in her home in Los Angeles on October 25, 2018.
Duff clearly loves her children more than anything…
And she isn’t afraid to show it. Her social media pages are filled with images of her daughter, whom she is very much enamored by.
Luca is just as loved and spends most of his time with his mom, Duff, and step-dad, Koma…
Proving that happy families really do come in all shapes and sizes!
And recently it’s got a little bigger, as Duff gave birth to her second daughter Mae James Bair last March.
Duff has had a lot on her hands looking after 3 young kids.
And things have gotten more difficult for the star after she announced her 16-month-old’s recent medical diagnosis.
Duff shared on Instagram that her youngest daughter is currently suffering from hand, foot, and mouth disease.
“None of my other kids have ever had hand, foot [and] mouth, so I’ve never it seen before,” she said on her Instagram Stories on Wednesday.
“That looks awful.”
As per the Mayo Clinic, hand, foot, and mouth disease is a viral infection that causes a rash and mouth sores.
The actress admitted to feeling “so weird” that she’s not been able to stay with her daughter 24/7 due to working.
“I love my job so much but this is just a little shoutout to working parents who have to leave their kids in times that don’t feel natural,” she said.
“And it kinda like goes against everything in their body to not be with them in times like that.”
She then shared a positive message to other parents, saying: “You’re doing a good job, just like I know I’m doing a good job and working hard for my family.”
We wish little Mae a speedy recovery!
