Hocus Pocus

Hocus Pocus Halloween Must-Haves

In my house, the first day of fall isn’t about pumpkins and apple cider. It’s all about the Halloween glory that is Hocus Pocus. My family knows they’re going to watch this classic at least a dozen times before Halloween rolls around. Everyone knows I love all things Hocus Pocus…Hocus Pocus costumes, Hocus Pocus décor, Hocus Pocus food and drink. The wacky Sanderson Sisters always put me in the Halloween mood.

My love for Hocus Pocus isn’t just about watching the movie, though. It’s also about decking my house out in all the spooky finery that I can. When Halloween night rolls around, you’ll find me on my witchy porch in costume as one of my favorite movie characters. If you’re here, you must love Hocus Pocus like I do because you have great taste. Make your holiday even spookier this year with some fun selections from my ultimate Hocus Pocus Halloween must-haves list.

Bring On the Hats and Bats

  via Amazon

You can’t have a Hocus Pocus Halloween if you don’t have plenty of witch hats and flighty bats hanging around. I love this combo décor set that includes witch hats, bat wall stickers, and string for hanging. It’s a quick fix when I need to spruce up an area quickly without spending a ton of money.

Set the Tone with a Halloween Wreath

  via Amazon

I start my Hocus Pocus décor theme off right with a colorful Halloween wreath on my front door. All my neighbors know that I’m rushing out to hang out this wreath at the first sign of fall weather. With a witchy hat and striped witch legs, how can I resist?

Chant a Line from the Book of Spells

  via Amazon

No Hocus Pocus Halloween is complete without throwing out a few spells. I enjoy whipping out my Book of Spells whenever my friends or family show up during the holidays. After all, nothing says “welcome to my home” like having a spell chanted at you. And, yes, it looks really cool on my coffee table too.

…And Use a Cauldron in the Front Yard Too

  via Amazon

Cauldrons are such an essential part of a witchy Halloween that I needed more than one for my house. I have a cauldron snack pot and a cauldron wax warmer, and now I have this eerie outdoor cauldron with lights. It’s just what every yard really needs. To up the spook factor, add a cauldron mist maker. Double double toil and trouble, baby!

Put Out a Moroccan-Style Lantern

  via Amazon

When I think of Hocus Pocus décor, I think of classy accents that look antique. These Moroccan-style hanging lanterns are exactly that. I’ve hung them outside for parties and put them on tables too. Now I use them in my bathrooms during the Halloween season to add that old-time Salem touch to my own home. I add some fake spiderwebs around the lamps, and the room actually looks like it belongs in the Sanderson cottage!

Serve Some Snacks from a Cauldron Pot

  via Amazon

Winnie, Sarah, and Mary have one crucial supply that every witch needs: a cauldron. If you aspire to have Hocus Pocus fun this Halloween, you definitely need a cauldron too. I love this food-safe cauldron pot because it’s such a cute way to serve dips and candies at spooky parties. I don’t have to break out that heavy steel cauldron my great-aunt gave me anymore!

Welcome a Trio of Witches to Your Front Yard

  via Amazon

As much as I wish I could live out Hocus Pocus in real life, I know that the Sanderson sisters are never going to land at my house. I still like to pretend that they might drop by, though. This trio of witches with yard stakes is always a centerpiece in my yard for Halloween. The spooky witches make a perfect circle around my cauldron.

Dress a Kid in a Dani Dennison Costume

  via Amazon

Every year, I look forward to dressing up in Hocus Pocus costumes for a few Halloween parties. It’s especially fun when I can convince one of my nieces to go along in a Dani Dennison costume. After all, the night wouldn’t be complete without some good old-fashioned soul-sucking a la the Sanderson sisters!

Cover Your Walls in Spooky Black Bats

  via Amazon

When I think of Halloween, bats, witch hats and black cats immediately come to mind. They’re true seasonal staples that belong in every spooky display. That’s why I keep my hallways looking festive with a flock of 3D black bat wall stickers. A handful of these flitting critters makes a perfect backdrop for all my Hocus Pocus décor.

Channel Your Inner Winifred Sanderson

  via Amazon

I’ll be honest. My collection of Hocus Pocus costumes is big. I like to dress up as different characters from the movie, but this Winifred Sanderson costume is one of my favorites—it’s so fun to pretend to be Bette Midler’s iconic character. For the full look, add a Winifred wig and cape.

Add a Hocus Pocus Touch with a Sanderson Sisters Sign

  via Amazon

If I could, I’d quit my day job to become a full-time magic broom saleswoman. I bet you would too. I know it’s a dream, but I still love hanging this Sanderson Sisters Hocus Pocus Co. sign every year. Maybe I’ll make a sale one of these days!

Strike a Glamorous Pose as Sarah Sanderson

  via Amazon

My favorite Hocus Pocus character is Sarah Sanderson. She might be a little naïve, but she’s one of the most charming villains out there. Plus, she has a great dress and that amazing hair. If you love Sarah Sanderson too, I’m sure you’ll want to add this costume to your collection. Complete the look with a cape and beautiful blonde wig.

Flank Your Doors in Hocus Pocus Hanging Signs

  via Amazon

When I hear the words “I smell children,” I automatically think of Hocus Pocus. (Okay, I also think of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.) The Hocus Pocus connection is why I love these hanging indoor-outdoor signs so much. Place one on each side of your front door to show off your love for this Halloween classic. I bought these signs because they’re simple but versatile.

Sniff Out Some Kids as Mary Sanderson

  via Amazon

Mary Sanderson had that rare talent I’ve never wanted: the ability to sniff out kids. I definitely don’t want to walk around smelling a bunch of gross tweens. Just because I don’t want her skills doesn’t mean I don’t love dressing up in a Mary costume, though. She’s one of the goofiest characters in Hocus Pocus, and I love channeling her spirit. This costume looks best with a coordinating cape and wild wig.

Serve Treats on a Halloween Cupcake Stand

  via Amazon

Do you know what I love to make every holiday? Cupcakes. This cupcake stand styled like a witch’s broom is the perfect fit for my Hocus Pocus décor scheme. It’s so cute that you’ll want to serve anything you can off it. I’m not ashamed to say I’ve set up a bewitching cheese board on this cupcake stand a time or two.

Cushion Your Couch with Hocus Pocus Throw Pillows

  via Amazon

No corner of my home is immune from my Hocus Pocus Halloween decorating spree. Even the couch gets involved thanks to these lovely Hocus Pocus throw pillows. The vibrant seasonal colors on these pillows scream Happy Halloween from across the room. You know these look good in the background of pictures in my Hocus Pocus costumes too.

Get in the Spirit with a Sanderson Bed & Breakfast Tee

  via Amazon

As this cheeky t-shirt boasts, children always stay free at the Sanderson Bed & Breakfast. I get tons of compliments on this tee every October. I’m sure you’ll love it too. Both comfy and cute, it works as well for going to the pumpkin patch as it does for staying home and lounging.

Pull on a Witch-Themed Sweatshirt

  via Amazon

Fall is a cozy season and the perfect time to don this cute sweatshirt. Beckoning with the promise that “Come, We Fly,” the mop, vacuum and broom on this fun pullover always remind me of Hocus Pocus. Add it to your fall wardrobe rotation for a quick, festive look.

Stay Warm in Joggers Made to Fly

  via Amazon

I love my Hocus Pocus costumes, but I like staying warm during the cool fall months too. These ultrasoft sweatpants are the perfect balance of comfort and Hocus Pocus fun. I always giggle when I see the fun graphic with a mop, broom and vacuum that try to allure by promising “Come, We Fly!”

Add Hocus Pocus Fun to Your Kitchen with Wooden Spoons

  via Amazon

I’m not sure exactly what witches stir their potions with, but I’m sure these Hocus Pocus wooden spoons would do. I’ve been known to stir a cauldron or two with one of these spoons myself. Okay, when I say “cauldron,” I might mean “punch bowl.” It’s still fun to wield them in one of my Hocus Pocus costumes.

Round Out Your Party with the Hocus Pocus Card Game

  via Amazon

I can’t believe I just found out there’s an official Hocus Pocus Tricks & Wits card game out there. If you’ve ever wanted to be a Sanderson sister, this is the closest you’ll get next to dressing up and decking out your house in Hocus Pocus décor. Playing it on Halloween is going to be one of my new family traditions.

Light It Up with a Glittering Snow Globe Candle Light

  via Amazon

Is it a candle? Is it a lamp? Is it a snow globe? Honestly, I don’t know exactly what this beautiful Halloween décor piece is, but I know it looks great in the middle of my kitchen table during Hocus Pocus season. If you want to be mesmerized by your Hocus Pocus décor, look no farther.
