Hooters has been a controversial food chain since it first arrived back in 1983.

Now, almost forty years later, it’s making headlines for controversy once again. This time, due to a new part of their uniform.

Hooters has come under fire again.

While the company is infamous for the revealing uniforms its staff have to wear, waiters at the food chain are now saying enough is enough.

This time because of a new item of clothing on the menu.

Earlier this week, a plethora of Hooters staff took to TikTok to speak out about the new shorts that are part of their uniform.

Apparently the shorts are so short they’re like underwear.

One TikTok user wrote:
“So Hooters got new panties. I mean shorts. Love my job but don’t love wearing undies to work.”

Another Hooters girl questioned:

“What’s that supposed to fit?”

Other employees criticized the company’s double standards.

One such waitress, wrote:
“[We are] told to make sure our butt is covered yet they give this to us?”

And it wasn’t just the waitresses concerned about the shorts.

One person commented: “Shorts is a strong word.”
Another said: “Those aren’t shorts, those [are] swimsuit bottoms.”

Viewers also claimed the workers should be able to refuse to wear the uniform.

One wrote:
“When you were hired you agreed to a certain type of uniform. This is a drastic and possibly unsanitary change, you should be able to refuse.”

And it appears the viral videos have made an impact.

With one of the Hooters girls revealing she had been contacted by the CEO of Hooters themselves.

The CEO explained that Hooters employees would be able to continue wearing their old uniform if they desired.

It just goes to show the power of social media.

What do you think about the uniform?
