Travelling can be lonely.

Dogs, duh!

But that dream has become a reality.

It brings in dogs from the Humane Society of South Mississipi.

The dogs are all in the lobby.

The guests share an experience with their dog.

They get the option to adopt their pooch.

It frees up much-needed space in the shelter.

The hotel helps speed up turnover.

The hotel tends to have guests for longer stays.

"They have a lot of transient guests who stay for months at a time near our army and navy bases and that's just enough time to fall in love with a dog."

Hotel sales director Teresa Johnston set up the initiative.

"She wanted to have the business more involved with the community."

It makes adoption easy.

"We have a very open adoption program."

"We may tell them we don’t feel comfortable, come visit our shelter tomorrow and we’ll find one that is right."

So far, over thirty dogs have found their forever homes.

But when you see the dogs ...

We can imagine this would be the best holiday ever.
