Howard Stern is not a man known for mincing his words, but his latest blistering attack on the unvaccinated has divided the internet...
Over a year on, COVID is still far from over.
The more contagious Delta variant is causing huge surges in cases, hospitalizations, and deaths across the States. And this is even in spite of the vaccine. The reason? Many are refusing to get theirs, and it's causing havoc not only for themselves and the healthcare sector but also for every single individual.
And it seems Howard Stern has had enough.
"I want my freedom to live," he said this week on SiriusXM. "I want to get out of the house. I want to go next door and play chess. I want to go take some pictures."
"When are we going to stop putting up with the idiots in this country and just say, you know, it's mandatory to get vaccinated?" he went on. "F*** them, f*** their freedom."
So far, there have been 4 conservative and anti-mask talk show hosts who have died of coronavirus after refusing the vaccine - and spreading their anti-vax message to the masses.
"It's really funny when these radio, the radio guys are the best, they're like 4 of them died, 4 of them were like ranting on the air. They will not get vaccinated," Stern explained. "They were on fire, these guys. It was like day after day, they were all dying and then their dying words are 'I wish I had been more into the vaccine. I wish I had taken it.'"
"I'm really of a mind to say, 'Look, if you didn't get vaccinated, you got Covid, you don't get into a hospital.' You had the cure and you wouldn't take it."
"I'll tell you what, far as I remember, when I went to school you had to get a measles vaccine, you had to get a mumps vaccine, you had to get — it was a ton of them."
The vast majority of people had one reaction to his rant - surprised respect.
"This exactly! And I never thought Howard Stern would be the voice of reason but YES!!" joked one Facebook commenter.
"Hm. I did not have 'agree with Howard Stern' on my 2021 bingo card, yet here we are ..." another added.
However, others are concerned about what a vaccine mandate may mean for the future.
"It's NOT the government's place to say whether or not we have rights & freedom. It's also the choice of individuals if they want to get vaccinated or not. We don't reprimand people for choosing to take riskier activities than not get vaccinated for COVID. There's no reason to give that power up to the gov now," one stated.
