Ice-T has blasted critics who slammed his wife, Coco Austin, after she revealed that she still breastfeeds their 5-year-old daughter, Chanel.
The former rapper took to Twitter to defend Austin’s decision to continue breastfeeding while confirming they do “feed Chanel food.”
“News Flash! We feed Chanel FOOD… She just likes to suck moms b**b every now and then… Me Too!!!,” Ice-T wrote alongside a photo of their daughter resting her head on Austin’s chest.
Ice-T’s tweet has caused quite the divide online, with many defending it as “natural” while others called it “so weird.”
“It’s crazy how everyone who says, “you shouldn’t be breastfeeding a child at 5″ doesn’t explain why that shouldn’t be done. It’s perfectly safe and actually more beneficial health wise to drink breast milk,” one person wrote.
Ice-T’s tweet comes after Austin opened up about her breastfeeding journey with Us Weekly last week.
“Chanel still likes my boobs,” the forty-two-year-old told the outlet. “It’s a big bonding moment for a mother and your child.”
Austin revealed that Chanel does “eat steak and hamburgers,” but she still breastfeeds as she “likes a little snack every now and then.”
“Why take that away from her? … If she doesn’t want it, all right, that’s where you stop it. But I’m not just going to say no.”
Unfortunately, breastfeeding your child past a certain age can be seen as a controversial choice, which is why this isn’t the first time that the couple has had to defend their decision.
Just last year, Austin had to explain that Chanel was mainly nursing at that point “just for comfort.”
Taking to Instagram, she wrote: “I write a baby blog about my journey with Chanel and soon I will write about what it’s like to continue boob time with a 4 year old.. I get tons and tons of requests that want me to speak on it!
“At this point in nursing its just for comfort and believe me the girl loves meat so its not like she isnt eating real food…Thank you to all that understand my view.. i see most of you are so eager to side with me and I too root for you in your journey as well.. Us moms are connected.”
