An influencer was recently exposed by her fellow passengers after she took a photo of herself in business class, only to come back to sit in her actual seat... in economy.
Now don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with flying economy.
I do it all the time.
It's an easy and cheap way to fly to any vacation destination so you can do your actual spending when you get there.
But there is a slight problem with pretending you're not.
And it gets pretty embarrassing for all of us when you get caught in the act of faking a business class ticket when really, you're in seat thirty-two, economy.
That's exactly what happened to French Instagrammer Oceane El Himer when she tried to convince her 800K Instagram followers that she was traveling from Dubai to Monaco in business class.
And of course, people were not impressed.
"Influencer" now is it? When I was young we just called such people "unemployed" or "dosser". Strange times we live in.— Mike Rotchstinx (@MikeRotchstinx) June 2, 2021
If you can't trust an influencer, who can you trust?— Ashley Mandelkehr (@TeddytheDudeMa1) June 2, 2021
These so-called 'influencers' are the bane of #socialmedia & in my humble opinion they can shove their fake, patronising drivel where the fiery hot ball of plasma fails to extol it's illuminating qualities.#ThursdayThoughts #thursdayvibes— Paul Birch (@Wakethefitup) June 3, 2021
That's what influence means : lying every now and then.— Mike Sind (@Mike60192101) June 2, 2021
"influence" what exactly. Think I'd rather listen to the wind whistling outside my bedroom window than any of these people— Cheech (@OLDSCHOOLHAPPY) June 2, 2021
Isn't that what influencers are supposed to do?— Michael Burgess (@Byronik) June 2, 2021

Err....who is she????— Cara (@Cara36718732) June 3, 2021
Not much of an influencer.
I'd wager there's a few billion other people who think she's less important than a discarded coffee cup too.
Influencer, my arse!!!
Initially, she shared a photograph of herself in front of the luxuries of first-class with a bit of a photoshop here and there...
And you couldn't miss her in her sage-green hoodie and lilac tracksuit pants.
The distinct outfit might have been her ultimate downfall because soon after she posted the first photo, she returned to her actual seat...
Her fellow passengers saw the post online and exposed her.
Why hide her face? pic.twitter.com/FxHf73eqWx— Dracula 🧛🏿♂️ (@NjotuPower) June 2, 2021
Snapping another picture of her in her seat, passengers sat around her quickly uploaded the photographs online in order to show people how deceptive social media actually is.
And she's not the first, and probably won't be the last to do something sneaky like this.
This is giving very much— pic.twitter.com/Iy9sBn8z6A— debutanteslim (@debutanteslim) June 2, 2021
Remember when a group of "influencers" were caught taking pictures of themselves to make it seem as though they were traveling when really the whole thing was just a fake private jet set in the middle of Los Angeles?
I'm literally not kidding.
Here are the photos of the fake set up:
You can even book it for yourselves.
Originally, the concept was meant to be aimed at people that want to film music videos or use it for magazine photoshoots...
Until influencers came along and ruined it.
This is why we can't have nice things.
Don't believe everything you see on the internet, guys. It's a cruel (and fake!) world out there.
