Now, parenting is some pretty serious business, but it can be argued that one of the most important parts of the role starts even before the baby's born - deciding the name. If you can get that part right, then you're off to a good start. But for one couple, things got a little bit sticky after their in-laws decided they just had to change their baby's name because it clashed with theirs, causing an apparent rift in the family dynamics.

Posting on the infamous "Am I An A**hole" thread on Reddit, the husband explained the entire fiasco. Strap yourselves in for this one, ladies and gentlemen.

So, it all started when he found out his wife was pregnant, and at 4 and a half months, the couple considered naming their baby Dennis to honor his wife's father who died very unexpectedly a few months prior to the pregnancy news. However, a task that should have been so simple started getting very complicated when 3 months later, his wife's sister-in-law found out that she was also expecting, and wanted to share some name options: "Theodore, and if it's a girl, they're going to name it Quinn."

But at the last minute, it was clear that the couple had changed their mind and also opted for Dennis.

"Upon seeing him, we both realize that we have to name our son Dennis. We both thought it immediately and brought it up to each other later on in the evening.

"The next day, I fill out the paperwork, and our son is officially named Dennis."

But the inlaws were not happy with their decision stating that they wanted to name their son Dennis too.

"While we were having the baby, they found out that they were having a boy and made the announcement on Facebook and to some extended family members that they would be naming their son Dennis," he continued. "We had no idea. They posted to Facebook very shortly after my wife went into labor; actually, less than 10 minutes after I called my [brother-in-law] to let him know we were having the baby.

"We did not mean to step on toes, and had we seen the Facebook post, we wouldn't have followed through with it."

"It has all come down to terrible timing on both parts, but what can be done about it now? They're asking us to un-name our son Dennis, and go with Oliver," he added.

The man explained how it had been a few weeks with Dennis, but this sister-in-law was not giving up.

"I feel as though it's some sort of competition to her - to be able to say that her son is the one to honor our FIL, but I could be crazy."

In the end, it was reported that the couple changed their son's name to Oliver so I guess peer pressure (or family pressure in this instance) really does the job.

Big yikes.
