Jack Black is one of the biggest legends in Hollywood. He’s an actor, musician, and all round funny man and it feels like he’s been around forever.
It’s been a long time since we first fell in love with him and he’s never been off our screens.
But now fans have found out where his career began…
And it’s freaking people out!
Because it seems as though Black was in Jumanji before he was in Jumanji!
Now, we all know Jack Black.
He rose to fame in indie rom-com High Fidelity, back in 2000, in which he played hapless record-store clerk Barry.
But soon after came his big break.
Black played lead character Dewey Finn in 2004’s School of Rock – and immediately became a household name.
School of Rock is one of the coolest movies of all time.
Who doesn’t love the idea of suddenly becoming part of an epic rock band instead of being stuck at school?
And with lines like ‘stick-it-to-the-man-neosis’ and ‘you’re tacky and I hate you’, how can you not love this movie?
And next came something a little different …
The 2006 comedy Nacho Libre was basically a vehicle for Black to be his top silly self.
While not exactly a critical success, it has since gained a cult following.
Remember the plot?
After a fight breaks out at his place of work, he decides to go undercover to pursue his dreams – and as you could probably guess, hilarity ensues.
Black has previously shared a hilarious ambition for the character.
Believe it or not Black has suggested that Nacho Libre should be the next addition to the MCU.
Yep, you heard that right – he wants to join the Avengers.
Hey, he wouldn’t be the first unlikely crossover!
Although Black told comicbook.com, he doesn’t “have any plans” right now.
“I mean, I feel like Nacho Libre was kind of a superhero.”
“He wore a costume and fought crime and was a hero of sorts.”
“Unless they want to, ya know, add Nacho to the MCU, you never know.”
“I think he’d be an awesome addition to the Avengers team.”
The Avengers movies are some of the most commercially successful out there.
But they’d be so much better with a little Jack Black.
But fans of JB know he hasn’t just been in comedies.
He tried some more serious roles, such as when he played Carl Denham in the 2005 remake of King Kong.
Then there was The Holiday, where he played the very lovable Miles opposite Kate Winslet.
But it is Jack Black’s humor that makes him a national treasure.
Jack Black and Kyle Gass also famously made a movie about their own band, Tenacious D.
In the movie, they are a record-breaking band in the quest to search for the pick of destiny.
In real life they are still a rock band who tour around and play in front of huge crowds.
It looks like fiction became reality.
Jack Black has also broken into the world of voice acting!
Jack Black has a pretty distinct voice, but when it’s all animated it can be harder to distinguish people.
Back in 2002 Jack was the voice of Zeke, a saber-toothed tiger, in Ice Age.
Then in 2004 he played the vegetarian shark, Lenny, in Shark Tale.
And, of course, arguably his most famous role.
In 2017, Jack Black starred in the remake Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.
He starred with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Karen Gillan and Kevin Hart.
The only difference is that Jack is actually playing popular, high-school girl, Bethany.
But fans have looked back at the very first role Jack Black ever played.
And they’ve realized something spooky.
He was (sort of) in Jumanji before!
Back in 1982, Black got his first acting role in a TV advert for a video game called Pitfall!
And in it, he has to navigate a jungle while avoiding many dangers.
It’s basically the same plot as Jumanji!
“His body was built specifically for a pith helmet!” joked one fan.
