Acting legend, Sir Sean Connery, has tragically passed away at the age of 90.
Connery came from humble beginnings before making a huge name for himself in the film industry.
And he was the first actor to bring the role to the big screen, appearing in seven of the spy thrillers in total.
Well to be precise, Connery starred in Dr. No (1962), From Russia with Love (1963), Goldfinger (1964), Thunderball (1965), and You Only Live Twice (1967.
And starred again as Bond in Diamonds Are Forever (1971) and Never Say Never Again (1983).
However, he was far more than just 007 – starring in a plethora of critically acclaimed films.
Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade, The Hunt for Red October, and Time Bandits, amongst many many more.
Such as a BAFTA award for his performance in 1986’s The Name of the Rose and then an Academy Award.
For his performance as a hardy Irish-American police officer in 1987’s The Untouchables.
In 2000, he was knighted by the Queen in Edinburgh for his services to film and drama.
Connery described the moment as the ‘proudest day of [his] life.’
Despite the Academy Award and a Knighthood, Connery was also voted several times as ‘The Greatest Living Scot’ and ‘Scotland’s Greatest Living National Treasure’.
According to the BBC, after being unwell for quite some time, Sir Sean Connery passed away in his sleep in the Bahamas just over a month after celebrating his 90th birthday.

When I was a student in Edinburgh in the early 80s, we rented a flat in Marchmont. The old lady who owned it told us very proudly that Sean Connery used to be her milkman when he was a young lad. A Scottish icon then & now. Goodbye, Mr Bond.
