Jimmy Fallon is a national treasure.

His talk show, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, quickly became a household favorite after the first episode premiered all the way back in 2014.

Apart from being an award-winning host, he also spends his time helping others.

Using his influential platform, Fallon has supported many causes including national foodbanks and cancer charities.

It's no wonder why he's so popular.

Besides being a pretty funny guy, he seems to have remained humble over time, unlike some other hosts that have recently been exposed... Cough, Ellen, cough.

Remember when he did this?

He always sings the praises of deserving heroes. In one episode, Fallon surprised an Air Force Veteran with 50,000 dollars because she had a hard life as a single mother before following her dreams to serve her country. It was a tear-jerking moment.

And remember when he also did this?

While recognizing the amazing work his father-in-law did while he was in the Marine Corps, he went out of his way to get a limited edition watch that only those who have ever ejected out of planes on a mission could get and presented it to him on the show. It's safe to say the moment warmed our hearts.

His job involves digging into other people's lives...

From actors to musicians, he's always getting the latest scoop for us all to enjoy while also making them do stupid things. It's the perfect combination for entertainment gold.

But recently, others have been digging into his own life...

And the results were not pretty in the slightest.

There's one video that stands out amongst the rest...

A video from 2000 has recently taken the internet by storm for its offensive use of blackface.

In the video, Fallon is impersonating fellow comedian, Chris Rock.

Suited in a brown leather jacket, a black turtleneck, and black face paint, the talk show host took on the role of Chris Rock in what has been described as a "racist" move.

The hashtag #jimmyfallonisoverparty became a trending subject on Twitter.

After the video started circling online, Twitter users joined forces to call out Fallon for his actions. Keep scrolling for the horrendous video.

It's been a difficult week for us all...

Fallon is just the latest celeb being called out for their careless and offensive career choices.

The backlash has been pretty intense...

And it seems as though others are also being dragged into the mess too.

Fallon's probably going to be avoiding Twitter for as long as possible...

This is not going to be good for his career at all.

Others seem to be annoyed that he was taking a while to address the situation.

People didn't want a half-assed apology.

Even Dakota Johnson warned us...

Like she did with Ellen Degeneres... Big yikes.

And for those of you that are defending Fallon...

I'll pass you the clown make-up.

So, why is blackface so offensive?

via: Getty Images

For those of you that still don’t seem to understand why black/brown face is so offensive, firstly, sort yourselves out. Secondly, I’ve got the facts here for you.

Throughout history, white people would paint their faces black in order to degrade black people.

It happened in all sorts of places. From comedy shows to Halloween costumes. They would compare them to monkeys while simultaneously acting in a humiliating manner to depict black people as uncivilized.

It's extremely offensive.

So, in all cases, avoid it. You can still be Samuel L. Jackson for Halloween without painting yourself black. Just get a beret, a blazer, and some thick-framed glasses. It's easy.

And now Fallon has spoken out about the incident.

He released this statement on Twitter.

"There is no excuse for this."

Following the backlash...

It seems Jamie Foxx has weighed in on the matter.

The fifty-two-year-old spoke out after Fallon issued an apology for his actions.

And he told Fallon that he has nothing to apologize for.

Foxx went on to say that what Fallon did was "not blackface."

"You are a comedian... and a great one at that. You did an incredible impersonation of Chris Rock... it was not blackface... we did a show called in living color where we did characters from every race," he said.

He continued:

"You are all the way good... keep doing you my friend! You are necessary!"

"Some of y'all didn't even see the sketch... relax and laugh! It's Other muuuuphuckas out here that really don't care bout ya... use that energy for them!!! But leave my mans alone."

And that wasn't all...

Foxx also commented this. For more like this, keep scrolling to see how blackface tainted Justin Trudeau’s legacy...
