Fans have been left surprised after Jason Momoa was tipped for a different role in the MCU canon.
In fact, it’s been revealed that his next stint as Aquaman could be his last.

Now, who hasn’t heard of Jason Momoa?
Born in 1979, in Honolulu, Hawaii, the six-foot-four actor has become a household name.
He’s been the center of some of our favorite shows over the years…
And many don’t know that, before he started out as an actor, he actually studied both marine biology and wildlife biology — proving that he’s more than just a pretty face.
One of his first bigger roles was on Stargate: Atlantis.
The sci-fi military hybrid was actually fairly successful. Momoa starred as Ronon Dex, to much critical acclaim.
This thrusted him into the acting world…
And in 2011, Momoa was cast in the first series of Game of Thrones.
This was without a doubt what made his career.
Game of Thrones became far more successful than anyone could have ever imagined. And Momoa’s character, Khal Drogo, quickly became a fan favorite.
Despite the fact his character was pretty brutal…
As the leading warrior in the savage Dothraki tribe, Momoa was, unsurprisingly, pretty violent. In one particularly memorable scene, Drogo brutally murdered Viserys Targaryen by pouring molten gold onto his head.
But fans were more interested in his relationship with Daenerys…
In the early episodes of the show’s first season, Drogo was married to Daenerys Targaryen in an arranged ceremony.
Through trials and tribulations, they grew closer as a couple…
The 2 seemingly opposite characters developed real feelings for each other and their’s became one of the cutest and most genuine love stories in the show.
Sadly, he didn’t stick around for as long as we’d hoped…
He was injured during a battle and that injury became infected. In order to save his life, Daenerys was forced to sacrifice her unborn son to a witch. But the Drogo that came back was alive in name only. He was without any consciousness and Daenerys was forced to euthanize him.
In spite of his early departure, Momoa is still a fan-fave in the Game of Thrones canon…
And since the show, his career has really taken off. He first appeared as DC superhero, Aquaman, in 2016’s Batman v Superman – and Aquaman was so beloved that he went on to star in his own solo movie in 2018.
Aquaman’s character was also a part of 2017’s Justice League.
The character was so well liked that in 2018, the DC Universe decided that it was time for a solo film. Aquaman was a massive success.
Many were surprised that the film did this well, considering the fact that, in the comics, Aquaman is often considered to be a bit of a joke.
People were also thrilled to see a superhero played by a person of color.
Since the success of Aquaman, Momoa has gone from strength to strength.
He had a starring role in the 2018 Canadian action movie, Braven, to commercial and critical success.
He even made it to Netflix…
In one of the most famous is the CBC series, Frontier, which first aired in 2016. It tells the story of the North American fur trade in the eighteenth century.
He’s also dipped his toe into the world of film-making.
Earlier in 2020, he created a short film in collaboration with clothing brand, Carhartt, called Canvas Of My Life. The movie tells the story of Momoa’s experience of fatherhood.
Aside from his career, Momoa was also known for having an incredible relationship with Lisa Bonet…
In 2005, Momoa met the actress, and the pair began a relationship. Although there were reports that the two had married in 2007, they actually didn’t end up tying the knot until 2017.
Momoa has always been vocal about his love for Bonet. In 2019, he shared with Esquire that she was his childhood crush when she starred on The Cosby Show.
“I mean, I didn’t tell her that. I didn’t let her know I was a stalker until after we had the kids,” he joked, adding that “if someone says something isn’t possible, I’m like, ‘Listen here, I married Lisa Bonet. Anything is f–king possible.’”
They share a wonderful family together…
The pair share daughter, Lola Iolani Momoa, born in 2007, and a son, Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa, born in 2008.
Momoa is also stepfather to singer and actress, Zoe Kravitz.
But recently, Momoa shared some very difficult news about his relationship with Bonet.
The actor revealed in a post on Instagram that he and Bonet are divorcing.
Momoa explained that they are “parting ways in marriage.”
“We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is unfolding ~and our family is of no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring,” the statement starts.
“And so~ We share our Family news~ That we are parting ways in marriage. We share this not because we think it’s newsworthy ~ But so that~ as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty.”
It continues: “The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived. We free each other ~to be who we are learning to become… Our devotion unwavering to this sacred life & our Children… Teaching our Children What’s possible ~ Living the Prayer… May Love Prevail.” The message is signed, J & L.
The news of their divorce has come as a huge shock to fans.
And has left many feeling worried about the couple particularly as it emerged that Momoa is reportedly living in a van that is parked in his friend’s yard.
Following Momoa’s divorce announcement, attention turned to a photo of him with Emilia Clarke.
It’s safe to say, the picture and its caption has raised some eyebrows…
Fans have had a lot say about a photo of Momoa and Emilia Clarke that was posted to his Instagram page last year.
Some people seem less than impressed by the photo as it shows Momoa and Clarke smiling while she is sat on his knee.
Posting the picture, Momoa wished Clarke a happy birthday while calling her “moon of my life.”
“MOON OF MY LIFE. you are wonderful love u forever @emilia_clarke #smilelyeyes happy birthday benioff you handsome generous badass leo aloha j.”

In September, the actor made a move that surprised fans…
In a video posted to Instagram, Momoa says he’s disgusted by the sheer volume of waste in the planet’s oceans and the damage it is causing.
According to LADbible, the actor wore his hair in braids but what caught everyone’s attention is the woman standing by his side with a pair of clippers.
Momoa is seen holding up a couple of chunks of his hair back.
As he says: “Aloha, everyone.”
In the caption of the video, Momoa wrote: “Here’s to new beginnings.”
“Let’s spread the aloha. Be better at protecting our land and oceans. We need to cut single use plastics out of our lives and out of our seas, plastic bottles, plastic bags, packaging, utensils all of it. Let’s aloha our ‘āina together aloha j,” he added.
Fans were quick to thank the star for what he was doing…
“Thank you for all you do for the planet. I have never used a plastic water bottle and never will,” said one fan.
“When I see all the litter in the oceans it breaks my heart. So many of the sea life being affected and they are dying off a slow agonizing death with plastics. Let’s make the world plastic free people!!!” wrote another.
“Hair grows back and it’s for a great cause,” said a third. “And I’m sure it will look amazing.”
Another chimed in and said: “I never thought I’d see the day. Somehow he’s still smoking hot – the man’s a gift.”
But his reasons for shaving off his hair were legit…
“Shaving off the hair, doing it for single-use plastics – I’m tired of these plastic bottles, we’ve got to stop. Plastic forks, all that s**t,” he said in the clip.
And that’s not all, the actor went ahead and revealed why he took the big step…
“It’s just so sad, so please, anything you can do to eliminate single-use plastics in your lives, help me, help me.
“Plastic bottles are ridiculous. Now everyone’s making the aluminum, which is fantastic, so aloha,” he continued.
“We’re gonna keep going. Oh, man. Alright, I love you guys. Aloha,” Momoa concluded.

Momoa recently went on a fishing trip…
And it seems like the actor had a successful one.
He took to Instagram to post a video of his recent expedition…
According to reports, his post garnered a whopping 800,000 likes, and judging from the comments it seems like fans loved it.
“Big Mahalo [thanks] for that loin cloth flapping in the wind!” one person commented.
While another said: “Umm can we get a little extra footage on Jason’s fishing outfit?”
“Jason what in that thong thong thong song is going on here?” a third added.
The video showed Momoa fishing while he flaunted his bare butt as the sea breeze rippled across the boat.

But that wasn’t the only time Momoa has exposed his butt…
Whilst appearing on the Jimmy Kimmel Show on Wednesday night, Momoa could be seen wearing his Slumberland costume from the new movie.
Later on, in the show, he stripped down, showing off some skin.
Referencing the Instagram post of Momoa showing his butt whilst fishing, he explained: “I’m doing a show. I’m a creator and writer and director and producer on this Apple series called Chief of War and it’s all 1780s, 1790s Hawaii. That’s what I wear every day.
“I was just getting ready for the role, and I like to get into character and so I was tanning my white a**.”
Momoa admitted he loves the minimal look, saying: “I actually don’t even like wearing clothes anymore. I’m in it every day. I wear it all the time.”
Kimmel asked: “Are you wearing this under your clothes right now?”
To which Momoa responded: “Of course.”
Momoa then stood up, stripped his clothes off, and gave the audience quite the view by exposing his butt…
He then bends over to pull his pant up, exposing his butt to Kimmel.
“Let me tell you, I never felt more like Danny DeVito than I do right now,” Kimmel added with a laugh in the end.

But now, the future of Momoa in the MCU has been called into question.
There are new rumors that Momoa’s role in The Lost Kingdom could be his last as Aquaman.
Even more surprisingly, Momoa has been tipped for a different DC role!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the character of Lobo has even “been mentioned in connection with Momoa.”
Lobo is quite different from Aquaman, and is described as “a foul-mouthed cigar-chomping intergalactic bounty hunter!”
