Things are heating up in Jeezy’s divorce from Jeannie Mai.

The former cohost of The Real and the Trap Or Die rapper were a fan favorite couple when they first got together.

The couple first met on the set of her daytime talk show in November 2018 and began quietly dating. They made their public debut as a couple that following August, when they attended a gala for his non-profit, Street Dreamz.

Jeannie, who divorced her first husband, Freddy Harteis, in 2017, was quick to praise Jeezy for how different he was than her husband of 10 years. She talked about the “basic” things her second husband did for her that made her realize he was the one.

“I didn’t even know until my new relationship that something as basic, even something as basic as like at his birthday party, he left his birthday to drive me to the airport,” she told her cohosts on The Real.

“He was looking at me like ‘Are you crazy? I need to see you off. I’m going to drive you to the airport. So I’m just saying … just be mindful of your standards,” she stressed at the time.

The couple eventually got married in March 2021 at their Atlanta home in a small ceremony. And even though Mai expressed prior that she never wanted to have kids, that all changed when she met Jeezy. They welcomed their daughter, Monaco, in January 2022.

“Falling in love with Jeezy made me see life differently for myself. Our love is honest, pure and safe … something I hadn’t felt as a child,” Mai said at the time.

Sadly, after two-and-a-half years of marriage, Jeezy filed for divorce on September 14, 2023. The document stated that the rapper wants to share joint legal custody of their daughter.

Jeezy’s filing also said the pair are “currently living in a bona fide state of separation,” and that their marriage is “irretrievably broken” with “no hope for reconciliation.”

Despite Jeezy saying there was no hope for reconciliation, reports suggested that Jeannie was willing to try anything to save her family.
“She got married to stay married. She’s committed to trying to save her marriage,” a source told PEOPLE, who described the former TV host as “hurt and devastated” by her husband’s decision to file for divorce.

Now, nearly three months later, Mai has responded to the divorce petition, and she’s making some pretty serious insinuations about what led to the demise of their marriage.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Jeannie more than suggests that her estranged husband is guilty of infidelity.

Her lawyer writes, “Wife reserves the right to amend this counterclaim to add other grounds for divorce, but which Wife does not wish to specify herein at this time in the hope this matter can be resolved without having to disclose such conduct publicly.”

The lawyer’s plea goes on to get even more pointed, seemingly suggesting that the rapper might have engaged in inappropriate relationships via different forms of electronic communication.

“Wife further shows that the Court should enforce Paragraph 8 of the Prenuptial Agreement regarding infidelity which provides, in pertinent part, that in the event that either party engages in sexual relations, an emotional relationship, or is emotionally or sexually suggestive in communication with a third party via all forms of electronic communications, including but not limited to texting, sexting, Facetiming, social media and/or Direct Messages, shall result in a significant financial penalty upon the adulterous party,” Jeannie’s lawyer writes.

In this response, Mai is basically calling their prenup null and void because her husband allegedly wasn’t faithful during their marriage. Now, she’s looking to get some money out of their split.

While cheating allegations are always an interesting plot twist for any relationship, they’re even more poignant in this specific celebrity split.

When news of their divorce when public, Jeannie was actually the one to first be accused of cheating. The star was linked to Access Hollywood host Mario Lopez because of flirty clips from the show, but sources close to Mai quickly shut down those rumors.

Jeezy has also been vocal about how important it is to be faithful recently, making Jeannie’s new claims all the more shocking.

The rapper recently released a 29-track double album, I Might Forgive … But I Don’t Forget, following the split. On the project is a song titled “Don’t Cheat,” which is about exactly what you’d think.

Jeezy also condemned infidelity multiple times during a recent interview with Nia Long, who was publicly cheated on by her longtime partner, Ime Udoka, last year.

During his conversation with Long, Jeezy said he and Jeannie attempted counseling sessions to fix what he deemed was broken in the marriage–but ultimately he told the actress the damage had been done and being “responsible for himself” was the best decision.

Long was the first one to reflect on her ex’s infidelity, saying that cheating is “usually not about another person, an affair, or some chick that’s willing to make you feel like a king.”

That’s when Jeezy chimed in to say: “real n***s don’t cheat.”

When asking Jeezy to clarify if he wants to be honorable to himself or the woman that he’s with, the artist made his position clear–he wants to be a good man across the board.

“I want to be honorable and just… Anybody that’s real—and when I say real, I mean real with yourself—there’s a sense of integrity there,” he said. “My life is built on integrity. That’s my moral compass. If I’m not integral, I’m off.”

Now that Jeannie seems to be accusing her estranged husband of being unfaithful, Jeezy’s conversation with Nia Long is looking a lot different.

As for Jeannie, she’s focusing on herself amid the split. She broke her silence on the divorce in October, saying that she is taking the situation “day by day” while also attributing her perseverance to her daughter.

“Taking it day by day,” she said during an appearance on Sherri. “Turning off everything helps, too. I turned off every single device in my house and I really tuned into the voices I really needed to hear, which was me and the truth.”
