Jennifer Aniston wrote a touching tribute to her late Friends costar Matthew Perry nearly a month after his passing.

In an Instagram post shared on Nov. 15, she began her emotional message writing, “Oh boy this one has cut deep…”

She expressed her immense grief over her longtime friend’s passing, noting, “Having to say goodbye to our Matty has been an insane wave of emotions that I’ve never experienced before.”

Aniston continued, “We all experience loss at some point in our lives. Loss of life or loss of love. Being able to really SIT in this grief allows you to feel the moments of joy and gratitude for having loved someone that deep. And we loved him deeply.”

She then discussed the Friends cast’s close bond with each other, recalling, “He was such a part of our DNA. We were always the 6 of us.”

Aniston added, “This was a chosen family that forever changed the course of who we were and what our path was going to be.”

The actress also wrote about Perry’s best qualities, sharing, “For Matty, he KNEW he loved to make people laugh. As he said himself, if he didn’t hear the ‘laugh’ he thought he was going to die.”

She continued, “His life literally depended on it. And boy did he succeed in doing just that. He made all of us laugh. And laugh hard.”

Aniston revealed that since Perry’s passing, she’s been looking through their text conversations, “laughing and crying and laughing again” while reading them.

There was one text in particular that stuck with her. She shared a screenshot of it for fans to read. Perry wrote, “Making you laugh just made my dad. It made my day :).” He included an adorable photo of the two laughing on set.

In her tribute, Aniston noted that the text “says it all” about Perry’s character.

Aniston ended her touching message about Perry by addressing the actor directly, writing, “Matty, I love you so much and I know you are now completely at peace and out of any pain. I talk to you every day… sometimes I can almost hear you saying ‘could you BE any crazier?'”

She added, “Rest little brother. You always made my day…❤️🕊️.”

Matthew Perry died on Oct. 28 at his Los Angeles home. He was 54 years old.

The cause of death is currently pending investigation.

In a 2022 interview with Diane Sawyer promoting his memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, Perry spoke about Aniston being his closest Friends costar.

“She was the one that reached out the most. You know, I’m really grateful to her for that,” he said.

Before sharing her personal tribute, Aniston had released a joint statement with the other Friends stars breaking her silence on Perry’s death.

“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family,” read the statement shared with People. “There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.”

Their statement continued, “In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”
