The late-night talk-show host hasn't held back on President Trump...
Donald Trump's press conference that was held earlier today has ruffled a lot of feathers...And the entire country has been left completely stunned following the president's wild accusations about this year's election.
Trump is clearly in panic mode as Biden takes the lead in the polls...But this is absolutely no excuse for some of the outrageous claims he has made today.
Many feel very strongly about this...
via: GettyAnd talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel has even called for Trump to be arrested for his "dangerous election lies." Crazy, right? Well, keep on reading to get up to speed on what we know so far...
Now, it's been one hell of a journey.
via: GettyBack in August, when it was announced that Joe Biden would be going head-to-head with Donald Trump as the official Democratic nominee, we knew this race was going to be filled with ups and downs.
To sum things up, the first presidential debate diminished the last bit of hope we had.
via: GettyThe Guardian described it as a "national humiliation" watched by global audiences, if that's anything to go by. Rather than discussing the pressing issues that were plaguing the country, the 2 nominees resorted to hurling insults from either side of the podium.
And the chance to redeem themselves was stolen as the second debate got canceled.
via: GettyDue to the president's potentially contagious self, the second debate was forcibly canceled, though the rivals still held their own separate events where they discussed all the topics they couldn't go into detail about the first time. Public opinion on who performed the best was divided.
And the third and final debate was probably the best of them all, only because of one thing...
via: GettyMuting the opponent's mic while someone else was speaking. Who knew such a simple tactic would be so effective? The final debate, which took place in Tennessee, saw both candidates discuss several of the country's problems, including the coronavirus pandemic, social movements, and climate change.
But of course, it didn't come without some last-minute digs.
via: GettyWell, what else were we really expecting?
This week, the big day finally arrived.
via: GettyOn November 3rd, the polls officially closed and the ballot counting began... but, this year, things are proving to take a little longer than usual.
Due to the large number of mail-in ballots, we have been waiting a little longer for the overall results...
via: GettyAnd, so far, it's proving to be a close one.
Nearly 100 million had already cast their vote before election day...
via: GettyAnd according to the initial polls showed that Biden and his vice presidential nominee, Kamala Harris, lead the way, being favored amongst 66% of voters.
But between the people that voted on election day, 69% of them favored Trump.
via: GettyOther polls predicted results that opposed each other, some thinking our current president would be re-elected, while others rounded up that we would have a Democrat on the throne.
However, at the time of writing, Biden holds the lead.
via: GettyBiden currently holds 264 electoral college votes, while Trump lags behind with only 214. Of course, this could all change dramatically as the 5 final States get their votes in but, it's needless to say, Trump is seriously panicking.
Anyway, Trump broke his thirty-six-hour silence today by holding a press conference at the White House...
via: GettyAnd, in doing so, he called the entire presidential election into question, claiming it was rigged against him from start to finish.
So, what exactly was said?
via: GettyWell, he wasted no time in expressing his somewhat illegitimate confidence in his chances of re-election, saying almost immediately: "If you count the legal votes, I win." Trump has made this claim before, even though votes are still being counted.
He also weighed in on the mail-in ballots...
via: GettyAnd slammed them as "one-sided."
He then went on to insist that "media polling was election interference"...
via: GettyAdding to his past claims of electoral fraud.
All-in-all, Trump is clearly feeling the pressure...
via: GettySo, of course, many of us weren't too surprised when he revealed that he believes he has been "cheated out of the election."
His claim was wild.
via: GettyHe insisted that he was the victim of "big media, big money and big tech" coming together to commit "historic election interference" to give Joe Biden the presidency.
"There's tremendous litigation going on and this is a case where they're trying to steal an election. They're trying to rig an election and we can't let that happen," he said.
FYI, Trump has provided absolutely no evidence to back up his outrageous claims...
via: GettyWhich is what makes things complicated.
These dangerous claims could potentially land the president in a lot of trouble...And Jimmy Kimmel has now decided to point this out to the entire nation.
The late-night host kicked off his monologue tonight by reassuring his viewers that the ballot-counting going on was merely democracy in action...
via: Getty"They’re still counting the votes, whether Donald Trump likes it or not. But it would appear that our Burger King has been flame-broiled for good. We are watching a presidency bleed out in real-time," cracked a gleeful Kimmel.
But Kimmel began getting more fired up as he described the president’s steady stream of lies surrounding the election results..."There was so much false propaganda coming out of Twitler’s bunker today," explained Kimmel, including Trump tweeting: "ANY VOTE THAT CAME IN AFTER ELECTION DAY WILL NOT BE COUNTED."
Kimmel wasn't afraid to go in on the president.
via: Getty"By the way, a lot of ballots that come in after Election Day are from our troops serving overseas, and the irony of a draft-dodger trying to negate those votes is more delicious than the twelve little dunk-cups of honey mustard he dipped his McNuggets in today," he added.
