And now, the Washington Nationals have given him the honor of throwing the first pitch of the season in April. The team released a statement in which they talked about the tradition.
But was this a sly dig at the current president, Donald Trump? Trump is the only president since 1910 that hasn't taken part in the tradition during his reign. Yikes. Now, it really has been a rough week for Donald Trump.

As you will all be aware by now, the president suffered a colossal loss to his Democratic opponent, Joe Biden, for this year's presidential elections.Of course, Trump has been doing everything in his power to challenge the result...

But he has faced a whole lot of ridicule as a result. This year's presidential election has been perhaps the most anticipated in decades.

And, as Trump and Biden went head-to-head, a record number of Americans made sure to get their votes in early. However, it brought with it a lengthy counting process.

As a result of the increased numbers of mail-in ballots this year, Americans far and wide were left waiting in anticipation for days for any form of result or conclusion.Though polls across the country closed on Tuesday, November 3rd...

It took days for a result to be announced. As the days trickled by, each State gradually announced their winning candidate and, throughout those tense couple of days, the numbers remained painfully close between President Trump and former vice president, Joe Biden.Trump was clearly feeling the heat...

And, as the counts went underway, he tried to temporarily stop vote-counting in Michigan and Pennsylvania, States where Joe Biden was projected to win.He also called for a recount in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania...

And then went on to threaten legal action against any State wherein Biden had won.Though a Biden campaign lawyer brushed off the threats as "meritless."

“I want to emphasize that for their purposes these lawsuits don’t have to have merit. That’s not the purpose. ... It is to create an opportunity for them to message falsely about what’s taking place in the electoral process," lawyer, Bob Bauer said, accusing the Trump campaign of “continually alleging irregularities, failures of the system and fraud without any basis."But, regardless of his many threats, the result were in after 4 long days of ballot counting.

The Associated Press called the race for Biden when Pennsylvania's twenty electoral votes put him over the 270-vote threshold needed to win the Electoral College - marking Joe Biden as the official winner of the election.Shortly after his victory, Biden tweeted this:

And that's President Trump, of course. Now, Trump's reaction to Biden's win has been nothing short of outrageous.

Though the president is a historically sore loser - he's very rarely had to admit defeat ever in his life - and has long made wild accusations against the Biden campaign team, people simply cannot believe his refusal to accept what has happened. His first response to Biden's win was to release a lengthy and damning statement...
The statement then went on to explain how legal proceedings will begin immediately.
And the frenzied Twitter rants were quick to follow.
In his rage, Trump took to the social media platform to dispute the result further, insisting that he was the one to have won.He tried to take some small victory from the situation...
And proudly Tweeted that he received a record-breaking number of votes. Whatever helps you sleep at night, Don.However, more damning accusations were quick to follow...
Trump seems set on the idea that Biden and his team rigged the entire election to play out in their favor, and made strong hints that something happened in the counting rooms that had "never happened before."And it didn't take him long to slam the Biden campaign as "thieves."
"The big city machines are corrupt. This was a stolen election. Best pollster in Britain wrote this morning that this clearly was a stolen election, that it’s impossible to imagine that Biden outran Obama in some of these states."Trump's personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, also held a press conference following the result...
But while they continue to "investigate", it seems as though the world is moving on without them.

Now, the Washington Nationals have officially invited Biden to throw the first pitch of the upcoming season.
In a statement released by the team, they made it clear that they were "excited" about the prospect of the tradition being continued by the new president. They said this:
"We look forward to hosting President-Elect Biden on Opening Day of the 2021 season. We're excited to continue the long-standing tradition of sitting Presidents throwing out the first pitch at the home of the national pastime in our nation's capital."This invitation has been a long-standing presidential tradition.
Starting in 1910 with William Taft, many presidents have come onto the pitch to make the iconic throw... Except for one, of course.Donald Trump is the only president that didn't.

Even though Trump famously attended Game 5 of the 2019 World Series when the Nationals played the Houston Astros, he didn't throw the first pitch.Thankfully, the event won't take place until April 2021, so he's got some time to practice.
