John Legend Thinks Jason Momoa Could Be the Next ‘Sexiest Man Alive’

Last year People Magazine crowned John Legend the “sexiest man alive.” And after the uproar by his fanbase, he has a pretty good idea who could be his 2020 successor.

The star became an in-demand session musician while working with the likes of Alicia Keys, Twista, and Janet Jackson.

He has now opened up about who he thinks could win this year.

The pair collaborated on each other’s demos.

The star released his debut album, Get Lifted, which heavily propelled him to musical stardom. The album was a huge success – earning platinum status, which was partly due to the hit single, “Ordinary People,” which saw him bag 3 Grammys.

Hits such as “All of Me” have all been well-received in the charts.

The star is married to model, Chrissy Teigen, and the pair have a huge public presence.

The pair got together over a decade ago and have gone from strength to strength ever since.

Teigen and Legend first met on the set of Legend’s 2007 music video for “Stereo,” where Teigen starred as the singer’s love interest. The model, author, and TV personality later revealed that when the shoot was over, the pair went back to Legend’s hotel room, ate at In-N-Out, and hooked up. “We did the music video, we were together for like 12 hours,” she told Wendy Williams in 2014. “We spent the entire day together, me in my underwear and him in a full suit, and I went to go say goodbye to him, to his hotel and we didn’t ever say goodbye that night.”

With Legend heading out on tour shortly after wrapping up his music video, the timing just wasn’t meant to be. “The worst thing you can do is try to lock someone like that down early on, then have them think, ‘There’s so much more out there.’ I played it cool for a long time. Never once did I ask, ‘What are we?’ Marriage was never my goal because I’ve never been very traditional. I was just happy to be with him,” Teigen explained to Cosmopolitan in 2014.

But it wasn’t long before Teigen joined her beau on tour. Although the pair had a mini-break up during this time… that lasted a day. “He was feeling really bummed and stressed out [on tour]. He was like, ‘I can’t be in a relationship right now.’ That lasted for one day. Literally, a day. I knew it came from a place other than us not working.”

The couple took their first trip to Lake Como, Italy – the future site of their wedding and filming location for the music video of the smash hit “All of Me” – in 2007. Apparently, it was on this getaway that Tiegen knew that she wanted to spend the rest of her life with Legend.

…but it didn’t run quite as smoothly as he’d have hoped. Legend proposed to Teigen during a Maldives vacation in December 2011, but the pair had a fight on the way to the airport, and to top it off, TSA almost ruined the surprise before they could even board on their flight.

“We get to the Maldives and he had planned this beautiful Christmas. He knows how much I love Christmas…And this waiter comes out with a silver dome for dessert…So he opens up the dome and a ton of arugula falls out and then I kind of fish in it…And I see the little box and then you know, your heart stops and you get so excited,” Teigen explained. “There was no big grand speech or anything. I think it was just very lovely and sweet.”

But they (legally) got married in an NYC courthouse, a day before traveling to Italy. “We actually got married after going to a couple of Fashion Week shows at Vera Wang, ironically who actually did my dress, but we got married at the courthouse right after,” Teigen explained to E! News. “We are dumb and didn’t realize that our Italian wedding would not be recognized unless we had a real ceremony in New York City. So Irina Shayk was our witness – the most beautiful woman on earth!”

Teigen gave birth to their daughter, Luna Simone Stephens, on April 14, 2016, and son, Miles Theodore Stephens, on May 16, 2018.

The two are a pivotal part of the celebrity scene and their fans lap it up (especially where Teigen’s relatable social media posts are concerned… let’s be honest, she’s comedy gold.)

But it looks like the pair want to put their relationship to the test to really see if they deserve their reigning title of a firm Hollywood power couple.

The YouTube video, which runs for a whopping twenty-five minutes, sees the couple answer a number of home truths about their relationship while hooked up to a polygraph machine. From prenups to crushes, they well and truly dish the dirt – making for a rather entertaining spectacle.

People magazine made the announcement on Twitter and he seemed pretty excited by the news.

And now it looks like the crown had been passed on to Legend. “1995 John would be very perplexed to be following 2018 @IdrisElba as #SexiestManAlive. Hell, 2019 John is about as equally perplexed but thank you @People for finding me sexy. I’ll take it.”

And he was well aware of who people thought should have taken his place.

“It’s been funny, it’s been humbling, it’s been all those things,” Legend told People. “I’ve truly enjoyed just making fun of myself throughout it because you can’t take yourself too seriously when someone calls you the Sexiest Man Alive. It’s not a literal thing, and it’s not to be taken too seriously.”

“I’ve appreciated the whole experience and I’ve been trying to have a lot of fun with it, but I’m so ready to relinquish this title,” he added.

“I don’t know, I do not know. Going by my Twitter mentions when I was named of who people said should have been picked over me, I got a lot of Jason Momoa,” Legend admitted.
