YouTuber JoJo Siwa came forward with a huge announcement over the weekend...
But, sadly, her decision was met with a devastating consequence.
Here's the full story...
Now, in the last couple of years, Siwa has risen to unprecedented levels of fame.
The seventeen-year-old now has over 12 million followers on her YouTube channel alone, with her vlogs and music videos each raking in millions of views.
But she wasn't always a YouTuber...
Siwa has an extensive list of accolades that have made her who she is today.
Her time in the spotlight began on a very popular TV show...
The star made her first appearance on Abby Lee Miller's show back in its 4th season.
The show, which has since skyrocketed the likes of Maddy Ziegler to fame, introduced us to the energetic and bubbly young girl - and she certainly made an impact.
But it wasn't long before she found her second calling in life.
While she was getting her bearings with life as a social media star, Siwa found some success in the world of music.
Her most popular tracks include "Boomerang" and "Kid in a Candy Store"...
Songs that have seen her tour the globe.
And, just to give us a little hint as to how much dollar she really makes...
She even owns her own mansion.
Oh, and let's not forget...
The star has even released her own clothing line, which has proven to be extremely popular among her fans.
As you can see, Siwa has a very distinctive style...
The teen superstar is rarely without her colorful outfits and her trademark side ponytail and bow.
And not forgetting that glitter!
So. Much. Glitter.
But, this week, Siwa's fans have been talking about something else entirely.
As stated earlier, Siwa made a groundbreaking announcement regarding her personal life over the weekend.
She came out as gay.
The teenager made the brave decision to reveal her true sexuality to her followers, however, her move has had a devastating consequence.
People have been sending in their messages of support since the announcement...

"No matter gay, straight or bi, lesbian, transgender life, I'm on the right track baby I was born to survive."
She quickly followed up her video with this Twitter post...

Siwa then took to Instagram Live to tell her followers that she has "never ever felt this happy before."
JoJo Siwa speaks candidly about coming out in new Instagram Live:— Pop Crave (@PopCrave) January 24, 2021
"I have never, ever, ever been this happy before" pic.twitter.com/cCagSiR9xO
"It feels really awesome and I've been happy for a little bit now... And it's just so, so, so awesome! Ya'll can just tell how happy I am."
However, despite the overwhelming support Siwa has received since coming out, there has been one devastating consequence.
On Sunday afternoon, a video of Siwa with the police started circulating online, thus prompting her fans and followers to start speculating as to what was going on.
Siwa then confirmed that she was "swatted."
Speaking on her videographer's Instagram, she explained:
"Basically, there's this thing called swatting. We're at our house, and all of a sudden, there was a whole bunch of police telling us to come outside the house. We went outside, hands up, because you have to obviously follow the rules, and then the police were saying that somebody had called and made a claim."
"And then, all of a sudden, paparazzi came from around the corner."
jojo siwa getting swatted after talking about coming out is a deliberate and violent act of homophobia you can’t change my mind— it bill (@dollarstoregoth) January 24, 2021
She then explained that "swatting" is when the media call the police in an attempt to get a story.
"I think because I recently came out to the internet, the media is obviously very excited, which I love, and I love the support. However, you could've just hung outside my house and I would've eventually come outside my house."
Thankfully, Siwa seems to have taken the incident with a pinch of salt.
"I feel bad because there was about fifty police at our house, and those police could've had a much better time spent somewhere else actually helping somebody, instead of dealing with a fake claim from paparazzi."
Very well said!
