Trans 4th Grader Blasts Texas Senators for ‘Attacking’ Her ‘Since Pre-K’ in Blistering Speech

Recently, a transgender 4th grader has been hailed as a hero after she took on all the members who oppose giving trans people rights in Texas Senate.

You don’t want to miss this speech, ladies and gentlemen.

Now, if you’ve not heard of Kai Shappley, you’re really missing out.

The trans activist was only 4 years old when she underwent the transition to fully become Kai.

But before her mom, Kimberly, allowed her to make the big move, she was already displaying behavioral patterns that were more in line with being a “girl.”

Speaking to Breanne Randall, for, Kimberly outlined how it felt for her as a devout Christian to accept that her child was transgender.

When she was as young as eighteen months old, she knew that Kai was different from other children.

“Kai began exhibiting very strong female characteristics. From the moment my child was born, everything about Kai was geared toward femininity,” she said.

But as a mother with 3 other sons growing up in a very judgemental and hostile environment like Texas, she tried to suppress her daughter’s instincts.

“As a Christian mother raising a Christian family, it was a very difficult time for me. I wasn’t ready to give in and allow Kai to transition socially — especially at such a young age.”

“My internal struggle beat me up daily,” she added.

“I felt like I couldn’t go against everything I’d been taught to believe, and yet I also couldn’t let Kai live in such obvious agony. I wasn’t ready to face the fact that my one-and-a-half-year-old child was a girl.”

Kimberly emphasized how the fear of people’s opinions coerced her into trying to change Kai but in the end, it only made her feel worse.

“By the time Kai was 3 1/2 years old, I couldn’t ignore it anymore. She was verbalizing that she was a girl at least six times a day,” she said. “I did everything I could think of to cut off that kind of talk. There were time-outs, so many time-outs. There were spankings and yelling matches and endless prayers. I even contacted the daycare Kai attended and asked them to put away every single ‘girl’ toy.”

But even after doing all that, Kai never changed her tune.

It was only when Kimberly stumbled across Leelah Alcorn’s story online. Leelah also wanted the freedom to be a girl but her parents failed to accept her as such and the tragic ending of her life due to that lack of acceptance changed Kimberly into trying to understand the person “who God designed her to be.”

She quickly realized that a lot of Christians were using passages from religious scripture to spew their hate when God teaches nothing but love.

And we all know this to be true just from the way some of the country’s legislation is defined by Christian values, Texas is one of the main examples.

For years, people have been fighting for equal rights for the LGBTQ+ community, but little to no movement has been seen.

The state still fails to recognize gender identity as a hate crime. Even though federal law has banned employment discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity, anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination is still not prohibited.

And not only that but in the past few weeks, a Texas bill has been proposed which strips parents from giving “gender-affirming” care.

The state has outlined this bill to include hormone therapy and puberty blockers for transgender children as a form of child abuse.

It includes administering, supplying, or consenting to provide puberty suppression drugs, hormone replacement therapy, or surgical or medical procedures to anyone under eighteen “for the purpose of gender transitioning or gender reassignment.”

This bill would put gender-affirming care alongside serious crimes such as physical and s*xual abuse and sex trafficking.

Republican state Senator, Charles Perry, who is an avid sponsor for the bill said this was his way of “protecting children.”

He said he had no ill will toward transgender people, but he felt obligated to protect children “who have not reached the maturity to understand what is being proposed nor the impact on them in perpetuity.” He then referred to affirmative care as “not reversible” and “life transformational and life-changing.”

He continued:

”God gave us a season in life, and it’s to have innocence up to a certain point, and then, unfortunately, we lose that innocence. When parents interject things that rob them of that innocence, and really robs them of a future, we have a problem.”

Parents who break the law can face up to 10 years in prison.

They can even have their children taken off them and put into the foster care system.

Not only this…

But the laws surrounding trans people from participating in sports, as well as medical staff being given a religious pass to refuse them medical care, has really shaped Texas to becoming one of the most discriminatory places in the United States for the trans community.

And this is why Kai Shappley took it upon herself to appear in Senate on Monday in order to provide an opposing argument for the bill.

The ten-year-old told the members of the board that she was tired of them “attacking” her since “pre-K.”

Her speech was commended by hundreds of people online who described the young girl as “well-spoken” and “brave.”

Speaking directly to all the senators present, Kai said this:

“I do not like spending my free time asking adults to make good choices. Texas legislators have been attacking me since Pre-K.”

She continued:

“I am in 4th grade now,” Kai said. “When it comes to bills that target trans youth, I immediately feel angry. It’s been very scary and overwhelming.”

She also spoke about the re-occurring idea of God’s love.

“God made me,” she said. “God loves me for who I am, and God does not make mistakes.”

After thanking “those who are sticking up for kids like me,” she ended her speech.

And guess what? GOP had nothing to say about it. I’m glad they felt embarrassed when faced with one of the potential victims of harmful laws such as the ones proposed above.

Now all there’s left to do is wait to see if the bill actually gets passed and if it does after Kai’s speech, then it’ll really prove that lawmakers in Texas really have no heart.
