This is the news we’ve all been waiting for… the chance to join the pair of lovable stoners on their next adventure.

But what mind-altering journey could the underdogs take on next?

Keep scrolling to find out.

The films have stretched the boundaries of offensiveness in a way that both makes us laugh and think.

Don’t get me wrong, the films are side-splittingly funny, but beyond the gross-out humor and crazy shenanigans, there’s a deftly handled anti-racism slant.

Fans have been pretty vocal about the third film: A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas, which wasn’t as much as a hit as the first two.

They nail the characters down to a T. There’s just something about the simplicity of some guys on a quest to satisfy their desire for burgers, that calls out to be watched at 2 am on a Friday night.

Their adventures could be set to continue with a fourth movie!

According to Penn, his partner in crime Harold (John Cho) is up for a fourth film, and so are the writers Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg!

The pair are both tied up with other projects, so it might be some time before fans see a fourth film.

“We would love to do a fourth movie. John Cho and I text about it all the time. Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg – who created and wrote all three movies in the franchise – we all would love to do one. I think we all, thankfully, have the blessing of being really busy right now and want to find the right venue and the right timing.”

Penn is pushing for the fourth film to go straight to streaming services instead of going into cinemas.

“I feel like it’s gotta be a streamer because people just love watching these movies in the comfort of their own home on a Friday night at 2 am, which is more streaming ‘binge-able’ than it is going to the theatre.”

Harold and Kumar go to White Castle, is the first film in the series. We’re taken along on their journey for a White Castle burger. Along the way, we’re greeted with racist cops, a runaway cheetah and most importantly a horny Neil Patrick Harris.

This sees the pair imprisoned over a terrorism mix up, just a casual day for the stoner buddies.

Involved the pair hunting for a new Christmas tree after their other got set alight by a stray joint… classic.

Last year Penn teased its return by saying he was planning to meet Cho and the writers to bounce ideas around for the fourth film.

“John and I both have our own things this year so I think our hope is towards the end of the year, we’d like to toss something around and see what might work. I would consider myself lucky if I had the chance to make Harold and Kumar 15 when I’m 70 years old.”

No plot details have been revealed yet. Are we due to see Harold and Kumar finally matured… let’s hope not.
