Three Kansas City Chiefs fans were found dead earlier this month.
The bodies of David Harrington, Clayton McGeeney, and Ricky Johnson were found on January 9.
They were discovered two days after they gathered at their friend Jordan Willis’ house to watch a Kansas City Chiefs game.
A shocking discovery
The Kansas City Police Department previously confirmed that a fiancé of one of the men went to look for him.
She immediately called the police when she saw him, discovering his dead body on Willis’ back porch.
Family members later revealed that it was McGeeney’s fiancé who made the discovery.
Police told PEOPLE that after responding to her call, they confirmed they found a dead body.
“Upon further investigation, officers located two other dead bodies in the backyard,” a KCPD spokesperson said.
The department went on to say that there have not been any arrests or charges in this case.
The resident of the home was also said to be “cooperative with detectives the day the deceased were discovered.”
Foul play?
Attorney John Picerno, who is representing Willis, previously told PEOPLE in a statement that his client “is unaware of how his friends died.”
He went on to say that he is “anxiously awaiting the results of the autopsy and toxicology report.”
An investigation into the deaths is ongoing, and the cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner.
The Kansas City Police Department reiterated this past weekend that there are still no signs of foul play.
“This still remains a death investigation and nothing more,” Alayna Gonzalez, a spokeswoman for the Kansas City Police Department, revealed in a statement.
She continued, “We still have no evidence or indication of foul play, no one is in police custody.”
The sadness persists…
As the Kansas City Chiefs head to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl, the families of these three men continue to mourn.
Johnson’s mom, Norma Chester, was celebrating her 66th birthday when she was informed her son had passed away.
She revealed in an interview with PEOPLE that she first knew something was wrong when Johnson’s dad texted her saying “he hadn’t heard from” him.
She has since been looking after his 4-year-old daughter, whom she was caring for at the time of Johnson’s death.
“So she was happy to go home and see Daddy,” she said of the toddler.
Norma said that Johnson was the only person who did not reach out to his mom on her birthday.
The night prior, Johnson’s father texted Chester and mentioned that “he hadn’t heard from” their son.
The next night, Chester says she texted the mother of one of his children and “asked her if she had heard from him.”
She said “no,” but quickly began “calling around” in search of answers.
That’s how we all found out about it,” Chester tells PEOPLE of Johnson’s death.
She went on to say it took about a “day or so” before they were sure of Johnson’s death because the men were found outside Willis’ home.
“He didn’t deserve this,” His mother added.
Johnson was reportedly planning on seeing his youngest daughter the weekend after his mother’s birthday, “which she was very, very happy about,” Chester says.
“She’s always saying, ‘Grandma, I miss my dad,'” the mom explains.
“Then she’ll see something on TV [and say] ‘There’s my dad.’ And that’s so heartbreaking,” she continued.
Johnson absolutely “loved spending time” with his three “beautiful” daughters, according to his mom.
“He would’ve done anything for his girls,” she adds.
In addition to being a father of three, Johnson was also a loving brother, uncle and friend.
Chester says she misses “his smile and his hug” the most, adding, “You knew he loved you when he hugged you, and he had the prettiest smile.”
Johnson was also a fan of “every sport” imaginable.
“It wasn’t just the Chiefs football,” his mom says of his fandom. “It was every sport.”
Johnson’s family is still looking for answers after the three bodies were found at Willis’ home.
Johnson’s brother, Jonathan Price, doesn’t see, to believe that there was no foul play.
“The facts don’t add up,” he insisted in an interview with PEOPLE.
The causes of death for the three men have yet to be revealed as we await the autopsies and toxicology reports.
