Officials have given us an update on the mysterious deaths of three Kansas City Chiefs fans whose bodies were found outside of their friend’s home.
Three Kansas City Chiefs fans were found dead earlier this month.
The bodies of David Harrington, Clayton McGeeney, and Ricky Johnson were found on January 9.
They were discovered two days after they gathered at their friend Jordan Willis’ house to watch a Kansas City Chiefs game.
A shocking discovery
The Kansas City Police Department previously confirmed that a fiancé of one of the men went to look for him.
She immediately called the police when she saw him, discovering his dead body on Willis’ back porch.
Family members later revealed that it was McGeeney’s fiancé who made the discovery.
Police told PEOPLE that after responding to her call, they confirmed they found a dead body.
“Upon further investigation, officers located two other dead bodies in the backyard,” a KCPD spokesperson said.
The department went on to say that there have not been any arrests or charges in this case.
The resident of the home was also said to be “cooperative with detectives the day the deceased were discovered.”
Foul play?
Attorney John Picerno, who is representing Willis, previously told PEOPLE in a statement that his client “is unaware of how his friends died.”
He went on to say that he is “anxiously awaiting the results of the autopsy and toxicology report.”
An investigation into the deaths is ongoing, and the cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner.
Alayna Gonzalez, a spokeswoman for the Kansas City Police Department, reiterated this week that there are no signs of foul play in this case.
“This still remains a death investigation and nothing more.”
She continued, “We still have no evidence or indication of foul play, no one is in police custody.”
The police have continually made it clear that no arrests or charges have been made in connection with the case.
Willis speaks out
Willis, the friend whose house they gathered at, now claims to have slept for nearly 48 hours after the game.
He went on to say that he was unaware of the bodies until the police conducted a welfare check.
According to an anonymous source speaking to Fox Nation, Willis is currently facing intense scrutiny without concrete details, evidence, or any charges against him.
Being targeted in the crime has reportedly left him “devastated” and “depressed.”
The source, who claims to be a friend of Willis, stated: “Not only is the whole country accusing him of murdering his friends without factual details, evidence or any charges at this time, but he also lost three close friends.
The source went on to say that Willis wasn’t even able to mourn his friends’ death properly.
“He didn’t get to say goodbye or go to their funerals due to the circumstances of these wild speculations and accusations,” they told the outlet.
While addressing rumors that Willis had prior knowledge of the deaths, the source completely dismissed them.
They went on to say that Willis’ own family learned of the tragedy through the media and were uncertain whether he was one of the deceased when the initial reports came out.
The families of Ricky Johnson, David Harrington, and Clayton McGeeney are among the people to openly question Willis’ involvement.
They have also raised the possibility of a connection between the deaths and Willis’ career as an HIV research scientist.
Harrington’s parents, in particular, believe there may be more to their son’s death than officials have let on thus far.
His father, Jon Harrington, spoke with Fox News Digital about the shocking ordeal, pointing to Willis’ potential involvement.
“[His mother] and I are both convinced that Jordan Willis played a part in this somehow.”
“We just haven’t figured out how yet,” he continued. “What else could it be?”
Perfectly healthy men don’t just drop off the face of the Earth,” he continued.
“There were four of you in the house and now three of them are dead and you’re not,” Harrington said. “That doesn’t add up.”
Jon went on to speculate: “I’m thinking that he, the three of them learned something or saw something that they shouldn’t have seen, and he decided, ‘Well, I need to get rid of you now.’ Friends or not.”
Meanwhile, the source close to the Willis family vehemently denied such speculations.
He called the “mad scientist agenda” absurd and insisted that Willis’ profession is completely irrelevant to the case.
Going on to address questions about Willis not noticing the bodies for two days, the source explained that Willis’ dog was not at the house during that time, as it serves as a therapy dog for his father, who is battling Alzheimer’s disease.
Though he was living in a nearby rental home until recently, Willis left due to fear of “retaliation” amid media coverage and threats.
The source has insisted that Willis is cooperating with the police and remains a “good guy” while facing vitriol from the public.
The investigation is not currently being treated as a crime.
