Kanye West has taken on a new project, the rapper turned fashion designer has teamed up with McDonald’s to redesign its packaging.
It sure is a far cry from the world of fashion designing, but the sleek and simple new packaging is without a doubt laced with Kanye’s iconic flare.
The forty-four-year-old rapper took to Instagram to share a photo of the upcoming redesign, he captioned the photo: “Ye teams up with legendary Muji industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa to reimagine McDonald’s packaging.”
He also posted a picture of the burger box to his stories, writing: “Next week it’s the fries.”
This was in reference to his hit song ‘Gold Digger’, in which he says: “This week he moppin’ floors, next week it’s the fries.”
The new packaging is the total opposite of the original bright yellow and red boxes we’re used to and takes on a more subtle color palette similar to what we see in Kanye’s Yeezy collection.
People online have been sharing their thoughts on the re-design, with many calling the packaging “futuristic.”
However, some aren’t too impressed…
One Facebook user wrote: “McDonald’s needs to just look the other way he’s a trainwreck who can barely dress himself let alone design a wrapper.”
An Instagram user also commented, saying: “Gotta say though, Ye making his Instagram return with a post about McDonald’s was not what I was expecting for his comeback lol,” referring to his 24-hour ban after he hit out at Kim and Pete Davidson.
This post is Kanye’s first since his suspension from Instagram in March for what TMZ reports was a violation of the social media site’s terms of service…
Meta shared that Kanye’s comments contained hate speech, harassment, and bullying.
