Kate has welcomed him into her life with open arms.

As she considered Kurt to be her father figure and said: “I have a stepfather who stepped in and played a huge, huge part in sharing what it is to have a dependable father figure in our life.”

The Bride Wars actress spoke about the estrangement from her biological father: “I think that estrangement is unfortunately quite common. I think it’s important for people to talk about that.”

But her Father’s Day message tugged at our heartstrings…

Keeping the caption short and sweet, Kate expressed her love for her stepdad with an adorable throwback photo, writing all the best words that describe him, she said: “Fun, adventurous, passionate, determined, honest, devoted, amazing father and the best head of hair in Los Angeles! Lucky us! Love you Pa! Happy Father’s Day.”

Kate’s mom, Goldie, commented on her post: “Honey, I showed this to daddy. Here’s his message.”

Kate’s mom showed the precious message to Kurt, who is not on social media and there was a lot of love to be witnessed.

His message read: “Birdie, mommy just showed me this picture, this perfect Father’s Day present. I’ve never seen it before. Wow … it’s a killer.”

Kurt even got emotional and said: “Lotta water under the bridge … it’s kinda hard to see it though ’cause all that water seems to somehow have found its way into my eyes.”

But Kate’s “father-figure” felt beyond lucky to receive a message from his stepdaughter. He concluded his message on an even sweeter note: “Thanks for making me the luckiest father in the world, sweetheart. I love you, Pa.”

Since then, the actress received quite the backlash after she posted a photo with her 4-year-old daughter, Rani Rose.

“Kate don’t you think Rani Rose is way too old for a pacifier [sic],” one person commented.

While another harshly remarked: “Get rid of that stupid pacifier.”

A third wrote: “I have a cousin whose mouth & teeth were affected from overuse of a binky for too many years. Braces and the works. Didn’t think his mouth would ever NOT appear to have a binky in it. She’s your kid, so it’s not my problem, but she’s WAY too old for that, and being an enabler isn’t helpful. Just saying.”

Although many users leaped to Kate’s defense…

With one writing: “People will never stop trying to tell other people how to parent […] must be nice to be so perfect!”

“If this was me I would post binky pictures every day now just to p*** them off, because I’m petty like that […] you do you mama. She’s adorable,” another added.

“Adorable! Love the two of you just enjoying life! Ignore the haters! Many on here need to STFUP! You do you! Glad your precious daughter can be a kid and enjoy her childhood and not rushed to grow up too fast! What a great momma you are! Hugs!” commented one user.

So what exactly caused the commotion?

Well, Kate posted an image of herself and her daughter, Rani Rose, as they posed in front of a mirror…

But her daughter sucked on her pacifier.

She revealed that having multiple partners has helped her live with a happy family.

There have been some ups and down with Kate and her relationships throughout her career.

Her first husband was Chris Robinson, whom she married from 2000 to 2007.

She said it was “volatile” at the beginning of her relationship with him.

“We were so in love and passionate, and then we would just hate each other and throw stuff around, and then we would travel to Paris for a week.”

The 2 eventually called it quits in 2006, but the divorce wasn’t official until 2007. However, their son, Ryder has kept them connected.

“For both Chris and me, our main focus is, and was, Ryder. And happy parents, happy baby,” Kate told Harper’s Bazaar. “Therefore, I love Chris to pieces.”

3 years later, Kate found love again.

She started seeing Matt Bellamy from 2010 to 2014.

Kate and Matt are proud parents of their son, Bingham Bellamy.

But while the relationship came to an end, they both made sure to stay connected for their son’s sake.

“One thing that Matt said to me, which I loved, is, ‘I just want to make sure that Bing feels like he’s gaining something, not losing something,’” Kate said.

Moving 2-years on, Kate fell in love with Danny Fujikawa.

The pair got engaged last year.

They welcomed their daughter, Rani Rose, back in 2018.

Though Kate has had kids with her current and her former partners, that hasn’t stopped her from spending a lot of time with her blended family…

During an interview on the Today show, she opened up about her family.

“I’ve got multiple dads; I’ve got kids all over the place.

“The only expectations I really have that are really high in my life is with my kids. And with, like, family stuff. Other than that, it’s like, I just let it go,” Kate said.
