Kate Middleton Hospitalized After Abdominal Surgery

Kate Middleton is not expected to return to royal duties until after Easter.

The Kensington Palace made an announcement on Wednesday that sent fans of the Royal family into a frenzy.

It was revealed that the Princess of Wales underwent a “planned abdominal surgery” at The London Clinic the previous day.

Luckily, it seems like Middleton is recovering as expected, though she was forced to cancel all of her engagements until Easter.

The Kensington Palace’s statement…

“The surgery was successful, and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for 10 to 14 days,” the statement began.

After spending up to two weeks in the hospital, she will return home “to continue her recovery,” the statement said.

“Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter,” the Palace revealed.

“The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate,” it continued.

“She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.”

Even though the Kensington Palace knows how interested the public is in Kate’s recovery, they went on to say that only significant updates will be given, if needed.

“Kensington Palace will, therefore, only provide updates on Her Royal Highness’ progress when there is significant new information to share,” the statement clarified.

“The Princess of Wales wishes to apologize to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements,” they continued.

“She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible,” the statement concluded.

According to reports from PEOPLE, Middleton’s medical issue issue was non-cancerous.

After being discharged from the hospital, Princess Kate is expected to recover at home in Windsor.

In 2022, the Prince and Princess of Wales relocated to Windsor from their previous base in London.

Prince William is also understood to be postponing public duties to support his wife during her recovery as well as take care of their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

He will reportedly not undertake official duties while Princess Kate is in the hospital or during the early days of her home recovery.

This news of Kate’s surgery comes following her last public appearance in December.

The king, 75, is set to undergo treatment for an enlarged prostate, the palace said.

“In common with thousands of men each year, The King has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate,” the Buckingham Palace said in a statement on Wednesday.

It continued,  “His Majesty’s condition is benign and he will attend hospital next week for a corrective procedure.”

The palace said the king’s public engagements will also be postponed for a brief period of rest as he heals from the procedure.
