Comedian Kathy Griffin shared some devastating news this morning by announcing she has been diagnosed with lung cancer, despite never having been a smoker. She has about to undergo major surgery to treat the condition.
Writing on Twitter, she said: "I've got to tell you guys something. I have cancer. I'm about to go into surgery to have half of my left lung removed."
Shockingly to her fans, Kathy admitted that the entire incident has been taking place for a while.
"It's been a helluva 4 years, trying to get back to work, making you guys laugh, and entertaining you, but I'm gonna be just fine."
She really does radiate optimism as she's even more grateful to the COVID-19 vaccination throughout the current health crisis. "The consequences for being unvaccinated would have been even more serious," she said. "Please stay up to date on your medical checkups. It'll save your life."
She continued to say that: "I was definitely in shock," she said. "I'm still a little bit in shock-not denial."
If you want to hear more from Kathy, she will be speaking about her ordeal on Nightline tonight. But for now, she has been giving some more information on her Instagram and her Twitter account.
"Ah Kathy, sending you all the strength in the world," one person wrote. "Sending you good wishes and hoping for a speedy and healthy recovering," another wrote.
The support has been simply overwhelming.
"You are an amazing person and friend and I am thinking of you through this. Sending good thoughts your way! You got this!!" another fan said.
