In August 2021, comedian Kathy Griffin shared some devastating news…
She announced that she had been diagnosed with lung cancer, despite never having been a smoker.
Writing on Twitter, she said: “I’ve got to tell you guys something. I have cancer. I’m about to go into surgery to have half of my left lung removed.”
Griffin admitted that the entire incident has been taking place for a while which came as a shock to her fans.
“It’s been a helluva 4 years, trying to get back to work, making you guys laugh, and entertaining you, but I’m gonna be just fine.
“The consequences for being unvaccinated would have been even more serious,” she said. “Please stay up to date on your medical checkups. It’ll save your life.”
“I was definitely in shock,” she said. “I’m still a little bit in shock-not denial.”
And now, Griffin has taken to social media to ask for help with her latest cancer scan…
Griffin posted the report on her Instagram and Twitter pages, asking for guidance on what some of the terminologies mean.
She wrote in her post: “OK, I know this is crazy, but I cannot get an oncologist on the phone and the surgeon who did my half of lung removal has ghosted me.
“This is what it’s come to people! I’m putting my scan results on Instagram in hopes that somebody will put it under an oncologist’s nose and send me some sort of interpretation in English of what’s going on with my post-operation situation!
“Social media can be used for good, dammit!” she concluded the post.
And Griffin wasn’t wrong about that last statement…
As fortunately for Griffin, she was reassured by fans that she remains cancer free.
“Looks good. No concerns,” said one user.
“I’m a cancer survivor (YEAH!) and in my experience reading hundreds of scan results etc, it appears there is no evidence of disease at this time,” another user added.
Other users in the comment section shared their frustration with the US healthcare system, criticizing it for how poorly they treat its patients.
“If a famous multi-millionaire is going through this… just imagine what people with no money or means go through! Glad Kathy shared, this is a great example of how bad our healthcare system is!” one person wrote.
